Neužmirškime, komunizmo fanatikų praktikus!
It seems most Lithuanians were not happy under Soviet rule.
These posters were on a outside wall of the former KGB headquarters, a building on Lenino prospektas (now Gedimino prospektas), in Vilnius, Lithuania (Lietuva). Since the 1940's the Soviets established a prison and headquarters in this building. The KGB left it only in August 1991.
Lithuania was the last Baltic republic to be completely annexed by the Soviet Union (1945), the one that resisted the most (with armed resistance until 1965, and active individuals into the 1980's), and the first to restore independence (in 1990; recognized in 1991).
During Soviet rule, especially the first decade, there were mass deportation of Lithuanians to remote regions of the Soviet Union, as well as on-going repression of the Lithuanians in their homeland.

man, those glasses could be found in the most fashionable stores in many capitols of the world, i guess...:-)))
(including "guess" brand stores...:-))
i was twice to lithuania and, yes, the country is so much proud of its history, so much fostering any symbol of its independence...young democracy is what we all ought to "promote"...

I just wonder what happens now with all the local KGB agents (usually not less than 1/5 of the population, that undoubtedly were left behind after Russian retreat? Probably some of them control country's major economical activities directed by the long hand of the Russian secret services. It's too naive to believe that communist grip is less tight then before. These days Russian secret services hold most of Europe in the grip of energy supplies... And not only...

Olá Francisco,
A atitude triste desta senhora forma um quadro desolador. Não entendo o que está escrito no mural, mas ainda bem que a personagem está saindo fora do quadro, deixando as gotas de sangue para trás.
Uma imagem muito expressiva que, com sua nota informativa, faz refletir.

Olá Francisco,
Como escreve a Carmo, nem é preciso perceber o que está escrito para ficar emocionado ao olhar para a foto. A velha senhora tem um ar de quem, compreensivelmente, ainda não conseguiu ultrapassar aquilo porque passou ou que viu os seus passar.

hello, I like very much the idea of the picture and the subject but I guess the message will be stronger by cropping the image more tighlty to the frame of the board... I agree with you, the history of Lithuanians has been terriblefor a long time. They should enter Euro zone quite soon I guess. Geraldine
