Vilnius (Wilno / Wilna / Вильнюс / Вiльня / ווילנע / וילנה) is the capital of Lithuania (Lietuva / Litwa / Litauen / Литва / Літва / ליטע / ליטא).
Vilnius was once called the "Jerusalem of Lithuania", owing to its important Jewish population.
During World War II, the Nazis set up the Ghetto Vilnius (Vilniaus getas / גטו וילנה), exterminating virtually all Jewish inhabitants of the city, killing them on the spot or deporting them to concentration camps elsewhere.
This simple picture displays the memorial in the former Ghetto, in the Old Town district (Senamiestis). See an engraved map in the workshop.
This week, on the 27th of Nisan (May 2), it is observed the Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom Ha Shoah).

Olá Francisco,
Por este andar, qualquer dia queres ir a um país árabe mais radical e não te deixam entrar por seres demasiado amigo dos judeus. Esta foi mesmo de mau gosto, não foi?
A série é realmente muito interessante e meritória também.

An excellent, lest-we-forget, series. It really beings home the scope of the tradegy. You did a nice job of photographing the map in the WS.

Oi Francisco ,
O povo Judeu sofreu muito ao longo da historia , mas a politica de Israel contra o povo Palestino devia acabar porque vai ser uma guerra sem fim acho que Israel não se lembra da historia do seu povo ,muito triste os interesses dos homens, parabéns!!!
