| One of the most vulnerable areas of the heritage is the wooden and small wooden architecture. Lithuania boasts deep-rooted traditions of wood carving. Wonderful examples of cross-making, such as crosses, folk wooden shrines with altars, roofed poles, figures of saints, cult and home furniture skilfully decorated with fretwork, have survived till the present. Contemporary wood carvers present a larger circle of works, including Baltic gods, mythological creatures and comic characters. This is a fragment of wooden cross in Vidiskes cemetery. |

Hi Rimantas,
The photo needs sharpness, but it is a nice example of wood carving in Lietuva.
