Photographer’s Note
Back to the underpasses around Riga central station. I don't want to say much about this other than:
How long would graffiti like this last in America or England?

Lewis, A nice reportage photo in B&W. I wish these were better appreciated on TE so 2 points from me! :-) The few simple elements and the grain contribute to a strong result. Stephen

Hello Lewis. Perhaps a "deport to Soviet Gulog" would ring more bells there. It is just easier to mock it when it happens else where. I didn't see much mocking the atrocities of the Soviets in Latvia. the phrase "too close to home" seems relavent here. Anyways, I like the composition and the tilt, nice DoF as well.

Nice black and white shot which brings our the graffiti.
Also, the word 'bombing' in the graffiti world refers to quickly tagging up an area and covering it with graffiti. No real reference to terrorism.

I really enjoy your graffiti shots. It is always a difficult one to shoot b/c just a picture of a picture is never very interesting. But you again captured this well. the woman in the background is a great addition to this.
I think the word bombing allows the viewer to interpret it differently...like vapours or like the terrist way. very different interpretations but I like the tension.

I really like your choice of subject! I liked this underpass when I was there in July 2005, there is a real sense that people just want to get through there at real pace. Great composition, great use of BW.

No ! I am not going to buy your photo..:-)
But, I must admit it is a materpiece in terms of photojournalism and BW adds a lot to its dramatic impact.

Very good point of view. The grain of the photograph is superb and corresponds well to the general idea. I like it.

Interesting shot! I think the choice to do the image in black and white is a good one. It heightens the drama.

Another interesting picture of yours...
I think in Riga they don't care too much about these slogans... or maybe if they were written in Latvian language it would be different?

The tilt in this shot adds a lot to the dynamics while she is going down the stairs but the real messiage written on the wall is the eyecathcher here, graffiti often an expression of people with no voice, here terrifying to know what lives among them.
Excellent seen Lewis.
greetings
Henk
