Photographer’s Note

Riga is home to many famous different blocks of buildings... much of the centre (including the old town) is very well kept and might even be called "modern". Stray further away and you can find the concrete buildings of the Communist era and many large delapidated wooden structures, such as this one.

I guess this shot is in a very similar vein to the last one I posted... this lady is a real contrast to the building itself, which I love. A friend of mine suggested this was classic of my "style". I'm not too sure... but I'm certainly glad somebody seems to think I have a style ;)

Wonderful street scene. The composition is great. Usually I prefer to see the human element on the left to provide a longer walking perspective, but in this shot it would be a wrong option since it would block the window and the stairs. The color combination is wonderful and the woman really adds some contrast to the scene. Like the slow shutter speed you used. Very good.

Excellent composition. I'm not sure if it's a picture of someone with a nice background or a picture of house with someone. I like the ambiguity. Anyway it looks good. The "~long" exposure looks good.

I like the contrasting colors and motion between the lady and the background. The building is great, with that lovely heart shaped window grating...

Hi Lewis. Great shot, level and even, the subject here is really interesting, good colors and you got a good person to walk by it, something contrasting the ramshackled building. The movement is also great. Well done.

A superb image i love the contrast with the women and the old building the colours and textures in the building are gorgeous. You have even managed to get the upside down heart motif (window frame) in your shot again. Excellent work very geometrical and a lovely take on the new and the old.

I like the colors here. the muted and old drabish building colores with teh vibrant colors of the woman. Seems like an old and young story.
