A second shot from the same location as the two men I last posted. I'll call this a "very environmental" portrait as an excuse for not having a longer tele ;)
I like to think this photo shows how cold it was and the conditions that people live in. The blue shack to the right of the women is actually somebody's home!

I don't think you need a longer telephoto for this, Lewis--with so much context it tells the story of decay, poverty and abandonment by society really well. Clearly not everyone benefits from the new capitalist economy. The framing is great here with the women low in the image, and the woman on the right's pose makes it clear she is huddling against the cold. Not a pleasant image, but one we need to see. This was actually in Riga, the capital city of latvia? this is incrdible, but somehow i ma not that surprised! I have been to Budapest many many times and 10 years ago, the same could be seen in the capital too! sad but thanks for pointing this out to us:-)
