You have these things you want to take photo's of, but then again you doubt, because people might think you're weird?

Well, picture yourself a guy taking a photo of a wall . . . . .

In Riga we have a lot of artistic grafity, colourful reminders of the cultural and critical corners, and freeminders of society.

This is the second I have about Capitalism, but there are many more, about racism, getting haircuts and Jimmy Hendrix. I have almost a hundred now, and I still need some close to Coca Cola Plaza (that's the name, serious), where they just cleaned the whole underground passage, and new grafity is coming back.

enjoy your day.

"Enjoy Capitalism" is made by Tolga Kocak in 1996,
he left a message (critique), I sincerly hope this will help him, and not that the copy is only an illegal 'quote' (as we say in architecture).

Hi David.

Nice photo. It's simple but the detail of the people who made this comparison with the typicall Coke announcement is great.

Regards, Oscar

Hi, this is a powerful statement. I've never heard of "Riga"... but I have been living in San Francisco for one year now... so i understand the sarcasm in this photo. I personally don't see what's wrong with Capitalism or Communism. It's just a matter of where one chooses to live. But Coke-a-Cola surely does symbolize Capitalism definately. Great powerful photo.

Excellent idea! Very interesting photo.

Hi David,
Bien vu !
Christophe

Excellent capture, framing an "thinking" behind your shot. They're using the CocaCola font more or less, right?
refreshing snap, delightful.
Bravo!
Francis

I really like this! Whoever came up with this graffiti was really clever. It's a good thing you had your camera with you when you saw it. The composition is very simple, but the message it conveys is a powerful one.

David,

I love this kind of stencil graffitti it was pioneered by among other a famous artist in Britain called Banksy i thought you might be interested the url is http://www.banksy.co.uk/menu.html
Great simple shot i'd love to shoot more grafitti but living in a small asian city the amount is so small.

i like this one to, looks like big brand, but is not really that......
nice shot,
i'm very impressive about your shots, really other way to show Latvia, the real old Latvian life,

Hi David,
Thought you might be interested in my collection of Rigas stencils.

http://www.jeremy.lv/stencils

Theres about 300 from Riga and a few towns in Latvia and have been collecting for a few years now.

I live actually right opposite this stencil on Dzirnavu iela!!! There is actually a few of these around town but they are a quite old so they are getting cleaned off.

Great concept. After all even the brand of "Coca Cola", this logo, is indeed a "synonym" to capitalism, like all multinational corps.

An excellent detailed shot ! And recognizable in a way:-)) Simple, no thingking about how to make it, just a detail, but nice !
And so is your note (again)....
