Amata River in Gauja National Park is popular boat trip destination. Here is one of the rather tricky (but not the worst) places. OK, OK, I know that in Norway or Peru you can find something really extreme... but this place is just some 80km from Riga.
When the water level is low, no one goes with the boat... everything is intact and primeval, as in this picture.
For geologists - the cliffs here are formed by rather loose sandstone, Devonian period. Sometimes river shapes here archs in this sandstone and flows under it (currently none).

A bit longer exposure (it was dark) has created this effect in water. No triangle used - happily my hands do not tremble. No postprocessing, except mild Contrast Masking. |

Very nice, could serve as an illustration in one of Tolkien's books. I can imagine a troll lurking in the shaows!! The texture of the water is very nice. Congratulations.

Good shot Gatis. The red rock is great and makes a wonderful composition. The white trunk obove the rock could do it even better if you leaves it entire.
