There is not much I can say about this photo, except that it may be the strangest picture I ever uploaded here.
This is just the gable of a house I saw somewhere in Riga, Latvia, where I spent one day on my way home from Georgia earlier this summer.

a lovely minimal picture which you promptly composed having noticed the fine and delightful rhythm of the discreet patterns on the white wall. A very creative use of space and framing. A suggestion could be made that you cropped the fourth shadow on the right so that the number would always be three. I like very much the simplicity enhanced by the black and white and the layout that requires the participation of the viewer to make associations or study the space. I also like that you've managed to sneak in a sense of perspective. Well done and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,

Gert, when I saw the thumbnail I thought for a moment there had been an error in the upload! This is a fascinating and stark image, but I really like the choices you've made in framing it. The three windows make a nice partial border, with the eye drawn across by the wire to the lamps and unfinished rectangle at the other end. The light shadows, the barely visible repaired cracks, and the POV all make this a visually arresting shot, especially impressive given how "little" there is here.

Vrlo interesantna bela fasada, sa lampama i malim prozorima.
Dobar tekst i kompozicija.
Imajte lep dan, sve najbolje u novoj nedelji koja je pocela.
A very interesting white facade, with lamps and small windows.
Good lyrics and composition.
Have a nice day, all the best in the new week began.

Hello Gert. The photo is graphically structured and has an amazing effect. I have to chuckle over your text. I know such thoughts also. But what the photographs would be without experimentation? We are free in what we do. So we just test how our photos look to others. Rgds, Wolfgang.

An American ecomomist used to say "simple is beautiful" !
This is also valid for this nice capture with perfect graphical effect.
TFS and best regards

The more I look at this simple picture the more I see such as the cracks in the wall and the delicate shadows of the lights. I thought Ourania's comment was good about cropping off the fourth shadow. I might have even cropped off a bit at the top of the picture. Isn't it interesting how such a minimalistic composition can look so graphically fascinating. Very well observed and taken.
Kind Regards, Ann

Hi Gert, So you visited Riga as well.. You had a great trip. It is unusual photo in your gallery, but creative one. Interesting graphic composition, not easy to take such a white wall. I like delicate shadows and even a wire fits here.

This probably newly painted wall with white from the usual dull grey and this shows the typical light fittings and the small ventilation windows Really I cant figure out the scale proportion here but it does give the hints nevertheless comparing the lamp size as guide. Compositionally, it's a balance shot with the rectangle offsetting those vertical squares in restricted color palette thus makes the viewer to concentrate on the shapes with graphical effect, making an image out of an everyday items and this effect is enhaced by the stark contrat in black and white. Well done, good effort. TFS.

Yes, I can see the attraction of this picture and I can even appreciate why one or two people have suggested that the fourth shadow on the right should be cropped out. But, try as I might, I really do not find this sort of photograph as appealing as your wonderful street scenes. A bit like my photograph of peeling paint on a boat - I wasn't particularly enthusiastic about that one either.
However, you might well have put more effort into this one than I did with mine - my picture was definitely just a "snapshot" whereas the picture I posted before that - of a window in a castle - was much more considered and took very considerable effort and time in editing and cropping and so on until I felt that it was "right". I was much more pleased with it than my picture of peeling paint.
Still, an excellently presented picture which has caused considerable interesting discussion.

That title demands a closer look! I actually quite like the simplicity. It all balances quite nicely. I like your sense of exploration.

A very complicated composition;-) but nice balanced. Maybe black and white could have improved the picture?

beautiful minimalistic shot....love the play of geometry here.

This absolute minimalist post follows the rule of 3 to the T...3 vertical & 3 horizontal. Add to that we have the rectangular shape & also the wire running almost in a wide arc. An fine palette of shapes, which works out well in your frame.
Something of a rarity in your pages...a picture without people...but quite delectable

minimaliste et bien cadré, un impact graphique abstrait fait de lignes et de peu de couleurs.
L'originalité au rendez-vous.

Very cool and graphical love the white space against the lines and windows.
Well seen and presented.

Minimalist composition with graphical shapes and shadows on the white wall. The BG gives a luminous and very nice milky effect.

This is a very interesting, almost abstract, minimalist image. I like the composition - it's all about lines (or lines of dots) and the monochromatic feel.

Strange only for the fact there are no people! :) There's something oddly fascinating about this picture, and although I can't put my finger on it, I'm still incredibly intrigued.
Perhaps it the simpleness of material and black & white scheme...without it being converted to black & white!? Your note says this is the exterior of a home, but I can't seem to wrap my mind around these fixtures. No matter my perception, I really enjoy how this has made me stop and analyze what little is actually here, in an attempt to figure it out. A great example of the "less is more" concept. Well spotted, even if it did seem rather innocuous. :) have a great day. All the best.
