Photographer’s Note
- tree - |or how winter paints a different picture every hour
Winter . . . one of the reasons why I like Latvia.
That is . . . if you get them.
When I first came here . . . winters seemed normal . . . -20 . . .lot of snow . . . but for the last couple of years it was rare . . . part of the global dimming I guess . . . we're particularly hard hit with min. 30 % more clouds . . .
This tree is not far from where I live . . . I took the shot through the window :) . . . and it changes it's appearance by the minute sometimes.
It's a beautiful old tree . . . trees do not get the change to get old anymore . . . they become rare . . .
I have taken so many photo's of this tree . . . the mist could come in 20 minutes . . . and the tree would be gone . . . it could go in 5 minutes . . . the light changes by the minute . . . it's better than any movie on TV!
Fotka - one more thought - this is a shot from my 'back garden' - I have seen many on TE . . . what is the purpose of a travelsite if people start uploading photo's of their back garden? . . . is TE a travel site? . . . or is it a photosite? . . . or a social site? . . . or a blog site?
Is it useful to show you a Latvian winter? . . . we love it :) . . . look at the page of Latvia and see how many wonter shots were posted . . . we missed it! . . .
PE2;
crop, resize to 1800, unsharpmask, resize to 1400, sharpen, resize to 1050, unsharpmask, resize to 700, unsharpmask, added border and text. unsharpmask; 50%, 0,4 and 60.
About the post-processing;
. . . the photo needs a soft feeling, sharpening removes this so I used the minimum unsharpmask, with the original on the other screen to match both.

Good morning David!
You show us a really exceptional photo - full of beauty and with a wonderfully mystic atmosphere. One can feel cold when looking at this one. The aurora creates an additional attraction in this composition. A really worth-seeing picture ...
Greetings from Germany!

Bonjour David,
une photo très audacieuse avec des couleurs très douces, effacées par cette brume efficace ici pour créer une ambiance.
J'aime beaucoup.
Regards.
Daniel.

Really like this picture David....
The colours, the moods and all the details created a fantastic athmosphere, perhaps one of your best shots so far....
