Photographer’s Note

First mentioned in 16th century, the original manour house experienced some minor changes and stood till the turn of the 19th century when it was torn down and a masterpiece, designed by W.I.N.Bockslaff, appeared in 1901. It served as the summer residence of George Armisted, then the Mayor of Riga. The castle survived through the turbulent history of the 20th century and its interior was fully renovated not a long time ago. Easily accessible from Riga – Ventspils road (you’ll see its tower after covering 75 km from Riga ) the castle provides now accommodation with all modern conveniences, conference facilities and a unique opportunity to admire this true gem of Latvia.
