Here you see the most renovned echo cliff of Latvia, it is some 15 - 18 m high. Natural forces have fractured the old sandstone and the fracture is very exact, parabolic, like a part of 1000 times increased satellite antenna. Salaca river has washed away the sandstone in one side of the fracture leaving the other side intact.
If you manage to find the right place on this side of river - you should whisper silently something. The cliff responds after some 2 seconds with your own voice, in full words, and it seems that the response is even louder than the original whisper. Spooky...

Slight Contrast Masking. I like the unreal colours. |

Very interesting shot, Gatis. The reflection on the water surface almost makes it look like one of those pieces of fractal geometry that generations of computer science students have had to write a program for at some time during their studies. The colors and contrast look quite unique. Well done.
Very interesting note as well. There is an "echo" rock at the Koenigssee in Bavaria which tourists guides like to yodel at and within 1 or 2 seconds you would get the echo back. Or, as a popular joke goes, if you were to call "Hello echo" to the rock, it would call back "Hello Gatis" to you ;-))
Love this...congrats
