Photographer’s Note
- che guevara |or The Endless Pursuit of Unnecessary Things
Che Guevara and Bart Simpson - I like the comparison. One of my favorite quote comes from Homer Simpson; "what if you prayed to the wrong God all your life?"
. . . :)
But you guessed right . . . this is not the reason why I posted yet another of the stencil arts from Riga. . . First of all . . . I like the concept . . . Bart and Che . . . the two are famous rebellions . . . and that's about all they have in common :)
Bart likes to be in persuit of unnecessary things . . . Che was fighting this.
So why did I post this? . . . well . . . I feel we are at a point where we should think about it . . . the credit crunch has ended a period of super-capitalism (or economism or neo-capitalism) . . . and to get out of it we should start consuming again? . . . at least that's the solution that's been offered to us.
. . . I think it's better if we change for quality . . . I don't mind paying more for a table that is hand made . . . more stylish and personal . . . more eco-friendly . . . locally made . . .
But like - george -, I'm a clown . . . a fool . . . for proposing something different.. . . don't hang out with me! . . . people will think you are strange too . . . you might be thinking for yourself . . . talk about problems . . . even looking for solutions.
We have lost our ideals . . . NGO's do that for us now . . . they have lobbyists . . . advertise for your money so you can be free. . . . If you feel guilty . . . you can pay your way out of it . . . like buying your way into heaven in the middle ages.
choose . . . . Bart or Che.
PE2;
autolevels (let me know what you think of it!), crop, resize to 1250, sharpen, resize to 1050, sharpen, resize to 700, sharpen, added border and text.
About the post-processing;
. . . no unsharp mask this time . . . there was hardly any difference . . . sharpening worked much better. . . main diference; the photo became lighter . . . the original was a bit too dark and I used another post processing before, but I don't like changing reality too much . . . there is enough back slapping on TE for fake colors as it is.

I like the shot, which is very sharp and has good colours. I also like the idea of having Che Guevara walking on the street with a Bart Simpson T-shirt!!! It would be very interesting, even if they both represent opposite ideologies. Well done.

I like this dramatic image, David, the juxtaposition is funny and almost shocking. These two so iconic images placed together evokes so many feelings and ideas (I am from the generation that worshiped Che ) Even the dirty smudging of the image suggests something about false gods (aren’t they all?) and fallen heroes.

Hi there, I do not know much about post-processing techniques, and I could not get what part of the picture is the actual stencil piece of art, and what is your work, but the result is good... and the theme very interesting. One could be ages discussing about it, anyway in my opinion they should not be put on a same level... Thanx for sharing. chau chau,
Maria
