Photographer’s Note
I've tried to have a different view of our castle ( Castello Sforzesco) in Milan, but you can see it better in the WS and in this Gae's shot .
The original Sforzesco Castle was built in 1368 for Galeazzo II Visconti. It was successively enlarged and in the late 15th century became the seat of Ludovico Sforza's magnificent court.
Ludovico summoned Leonardo Da Vinci to execute some decoration in it.

I don't know how many pictures you took, but thisone is a success. i have tried a few time, never succeeded getting a decent one.
I like that a guy is sitting on the bench.
the B&W is pleasant for this type of image, very well done..

Perfeito. Parabéns.

Wonderful exercise in B&W, Alessandra. Great contrast between darke tree trunk and light castle wall. A bench with lonely figure complete and balance beautiful composition with somewhat sad mood.
Well done.

Wow, great shot. Excellent choice with the Sepia.
It reminds me of my visit of Milano. I like that castle a lot, but unfortunately, my shots aren't that good.

Very nice shot Alessandra,
I like the way you have used an obstacle as an integral part of the image, especially how it's shape directs us to the more open right side. The tree allows sufficient detail of the castle for us to fill in the blanks on all but the top and perhaps a lower viewpoint may have revealed more information there but on balance the loss of the canopy may have ruined the unity of whole image

Hello Alessandra,
You managed the light particularly well in this one. The dark tree makes a lot for the originality of the photo, as also the character sitting on the bench, who seems to be so small in comparison.
You really acquired an impressive know-how in your way of shooting since your first photos on TE, congratulations Ale !

beautiful composition with the tree covering the whole top and the trunk bending to the middle... the light on the castle is very well rendered and the foreground is very important for the shot to work...
somehow the tree on the right looks a bit strange... did you select the sky there for more colordetail?...
soooo... la Principessa lives in a sepia castle!!! we should have known that ;-D...

Ciao Ale - you are developing quite an artful style lately in your sepia architectural presentations. This is another very nice one, with a daring but very appropriate positioning of the mighty old tree in front of the castle. Great textural detail in the old walls, well-handled exposure for the light you had, and a great addition for the compo to have the guy sitting on the bench. Very good.

I like how you have framed the shot, Alessandra, with the tree going across the top. Using B/W adds a great atmosphere to the shot. The man on the bench is a real bonus. Well captured.

The sepia adds to the mood of this shot. It has a dreary day feel. Kind of dark but nice and quiet. THe tree is really impressively shaped by the forces around it. And the wall of the castle is extremely impressive behind that. So light compared to the dark tree. And with really nice texture. Great contrast throughout, also. And the lone person on the lone bench adds that final touch to this atmosphere. Nicely done.

Ciao Ale!
Très beau cadrage de cet arbre avec le château en arrière plan et magnifique désaturation au couleurs sépia. Ce type sur le banc tout seul me fait penser à la chanson La Solitudine, qui a eu du succès en Belgique...

It's indeed a very different view on Castello Sforzesco, I saw Gae's. The combination with the walls of the castle and the "heavy" tree is very well chosen. Also the person (this time...) on the bench is a fine detail in this, also in beautiful sepia, great scene.
Nice work, dear Allesandra, you're doing well here and I like that !

Another interesting view of the castle, thanks for the other links. You have a very nice point of view and the sepia works very well, the man, the bench, all good details in this nice composition, well done & seen.

ciao, Giorgio

Yes, striking shot, very graphical use of the tree and the textured background. the fact you included someone on the bench makes the difference between the good and the excellent. Lovely tones too, a rare example of accurately used sepia tone.
Personnally i would have liked a brighter rendering , a little less foliage and also grass to enhance the graphical side. But that's really nitpicking and matters of own tastes...

I think, that B&W is the best choice for this picture. The composition with sitting man is great and very interesting. Ciao!

Hi Allesandra, beautiful picture, excellent in sepia, the dark tree is really very beautiful, the shapes of it are so nice. And thenn there's the grid in front of the door, very strong forms as well.
I'll shove it into my 'favorite' box, really something to go and see, when I ever reach Milan.
