This is my third contribution to Fall scav hunt: a symbol representing your country - theme.

Italian fashion is not only internationally synonymous with Italian style, but also the symbol of a competitive and highly successful industrial model.

The Italian fashion sector, including clothes and accessories, has exported Italian style, culture, professionalism and skill, becoming a universal synonym of originality, beauty and creativity.

However, the story of the Italian fashion industry is relatively recent: little more than half a century long. The birth of Italian fashion can be traced back to 12 February 1951, the day on which the first Italian fashion show was held in Florence.

The '60s brought great changes in society, politics, economics and lifestyle. On the wave of these transformations the approach to the fashion system underwent a radical change: clothes and accessories became ideas and designs on an industrial level with the introduction of those mass-produced articles that were destined to spread Italian elegance all over the world.

With the passing of time, Italian fashion became increasingly successful, achieving full international recognition with the prêt-a-porter shows of the 1970s and '80s and the birth of a new fashion capital in Milan, taking its rightful place alongside London, Paris and New York. Since then, the Italian houses have confirmed their leadership on the international scene and sales of Italian products have continued to rise.

In these days in Milan there are going the fashion shows of Fashion Milan 2004 (collection spring summer 2005).
This photo was taken yesterday during a fashion show in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II that is one of the most beautiful covered galleries in Europe. Began in 1865, it was the first of it's kind to make use of an iron and glass structure. In 1867, Giuseppe Mengoni, the architect, fell to his death from the heights of the glass dome while scrutinizing decorative details two days before King Vittorio Emanuele led the opening ceremony. Galleria is called “the drawing-room of Milan”.

Complimenti!

The lighting is most interesting here.. the model under the spotlight while the audience sits in the shadows watching. a very balanced composition keeping the model on the right and using the buildings as a backdrop.

Ciao Gae,
come hai fatto a fare questa foto?! Sembra ripresa dallo stesso livello della passerella e non hai gente davanti...stavi sfilando anche tu??
La luce è bellissima, vivissimi complimenti!

I guess that's the spirit of Milano that yo've captured there Gae. How did you get that PoV, were you involved in the event. Ah, I've just realised how a catwalk works, people either side, which explains why she's so well lit on both sides. Nice work.

Great light .the model is right where she shoul be , I like the way this photo is making a statement

Nice point of view, perfect light on the subject, great background with people and buildings, well done.

Nice point of view Gae! I like very much the light effect on the model, you captured it very well. But, I found the background a little bit distracting from you principal subject so I tried a workshop, I hope you'll like it.

Very nice shot. The lighting on the model off set by the spectators works very well.

Bellissimo Gae.Trois plan distincts sur un même cliché et tout cela dans un contraste étonnant.J'adore.Au fait serais tu magicien?Grazzie.Phil

hanno gia' detto tutto). 2 punti

Nice one Zanni. You really put the girl in the spotlight. In fact she is the only "object" that is not in the shadow. Nice how you saw that.

Really nice capture, Gae. The perspective of the Galleria leading to the newer buildings. The crowd of people in a bit stronger lighting. But all nice and dark enough so that the brightly clothed model is the center focus of this image. Her stance and the path ahead of her you have allowed for her to move in really adds a solid feel to the image. I really like the mix of people on the other side that range from photographing, like you, to admiring and to even one woman looking in her purse and a man looking away, apparently not at all into the show. And it is like she is walking in front of a photographic backdrop rather than a real scene. She really pops out of the image. Excellent capture and addition to the hunt.

Lovely shot… The model in the spotlight, every body in the background looking at her (funny, but some are taking pictures just like you) and some nice buildings further in the background.
You have an interesting subject, good composition, excellent DOF and good note!

it talks for itself ... great !!

A nice shot, Gae! A good contrast between the model and public on the background. Good light and nice colors. Excellent shapeness. I like this shot! Well done.

This is an excellent composition! The palcement of the model, the colours of ther clothes and the light on her makes her stand out - excellent, the audience look boring and gray compared to her. She glows!
Beautiful surroundings and symmetry.
Very well written, interesting note.
Excellent work!

Zanni, I don't think you have to leave your country to take great shots, but I do. Classic light on the models face.
