Photographer’s Note

This is a focus on one of the activities reenacted in Mercato delle Gaite in Bevagna.
You can see here a "torcitoio", a big wooden structure, moved by one people walking inside it, used to twist silk yarn on reels.
People of Gaita Santa Maria, in Bevagna, reconstructed it on an ancient drawing found in an XVth century archive in Lucca.
It's actually functioning and you can come and visit it during the festival and also in the afternoon of every month in the year.
I assure you it's a wonderful experience!

bello questo intreccio di meccanismi in legno, dalla miniatura forse non rende ma aprendo la foto fa una certa impressione.

This wooden structure is very impressive and seems to be of a very large size. I understand from you note that it is a loom for silk, and I did not know it was so big. The picture contains all the warmth of the natural wood's color.

Molto interessante Laura,
hai fatto bene a postare questa foto...anche io d'estate faccio il pendolare di feste medievali tra Romagna e Marche e mi capita spesso di rivedere arti e mestieri delle botteghe di un tempo...molto bella la luce che espande questo marchingegno di legno...brava

Le Gaite di Bevagna sono fantastiche!
L'atmosfera di quei giorni è molto particolare, veramente sembra di vivere nel Medioevo...
