Scoglio del Caciocavallo Photo

Photographer’s Note

When you approach Ponza's harbour from sea, you can see these rock formations. The needle like rock on the left is called Caciocavallo (Lo Scoglio del Caciocavallo). A legend tells that the rock earlier had a fallic shape and infertile women used to go there on pilgrimage during the night considering it a good luck talisman. When a piece of the summit fell off this belief and superstition disappeared. :-)

This is taken on board of the ship arriving to Ponza from Terracina.

Ponza leaves without breath. Beautiful photo with cliffs in first that slowly allngano the perspective. Baddori

I like this composition Lasse,
with cliffs and boat, an interesting point of view. I have been in Terracina the first day of june, but i have not take the boat for Ponza...sin!
