Great photo, I like it b&w, fascinating architecture, and good choice to leave colored tourists :)
cfreire (11741) 2008-06-29 7:35

What a lovely shot!
I love the idea of yours and excellent execusion.
delkoo (68) 2008-06-29 14:05
great desaturation, you have achieved an interesting result, the colourful crowd stand out nicely against the grey background.
great idea well managed.
Floydian (30970) 2008-06-29 14:57
A typical TL photo ;-)
You see this effect a lot in commercial shots which i also did a long time ago.
Here you give this daily life street scene something extra in making it like this. The b&w part has a lot of grey tones, something deeper in the toning would make it probably even stronger in the presentation. I like your vertical composition with a very deep perspective, really beautiful.
lilimih33 (9918) 2008-06-29 16:47

pablominto (53746) 2008-06-29 22:43
Pin sharp details and an awesome feeling of depth!
The scenery is well framed, and the street life is reproduced with attractive details...
molla (7129) 2008-06-30 0:07
Well done, I was just thinking what would happen if you did the other way around, makeing all the people BW and coloring up the houses,architecture... just as a though.
because this is a perfect way to both see the architecture and the movement of people by separating them.
could be an add for Benneton
fulvio52 (8314) 2008-06-30 0:14
Spectacular shot, Carlos!
Your technique performs miracles, the result is a superb dreamy mix of color and BW and a truly fantastic atmosphere.
Awesome perspective + depth of field and a tip of the hat to your inventivity and skills.
Have a great day, I'm off to my work. See ya later, buddy!

Hello Carlos. What I like about you is your sense of humor. The title and the note actually makes me smile. The image is meticulous. Your work on PP is brilliant with patience and skills that I am not even near at. Excellent partial conversion with pleasant contrast and saturation. The people on the street - they are just stunning. Very well done and thanks for sharing. Best regards. Jusni

I don't like partial desaturation but I have to admit it is quite effective here. Probably because you didn't single out anyone. Cool work, Carlos! Regards,
BWJ (3094) 2008-06-30 12:14
Great demonstration of skill with the camera - excellent POV and composition. Also, extremely sharp, clear details. The contrast with the tourists in color and the city in black and white makes an interesting presentation clearly demonstrating your skills in post processing as well. I admire your work very much.
Gerrit (51902) 2008-06-30 12:27
EXCELLENT IDEA AND VERY WELL PERFORMED. REALY STRANGE EFFECT.
Charo (51210) 2008-06-30 12:36
O efeito fica um estouro so.
litiancai (1048) 2008-06-30 19:56
Interesting idea to create the photo this way, and it's certainly eye catching in a good way. I love the small amount of movement from the people in the shot, it almost makes the shot seem alive.
Great work, and thanks for showing!
riclopes (35577) 2008-07-01 1:17
TopGeo (38216) 2008-07-01 5:47
Hi Carlos! Excellent work! Have here a technique that him I do not know! but I have seen him again here It can it becomes they are with colours the buildings and the persons B&W? I thank that him you presented! Impressive!
avene (12675) 2008-07-01 13:45
this is certainly an interesting approach, there's something futuristic about the image, may be from a day in 22nd century when the population on Earth is more than 10 billion. the partial desaturation works well to emphasise the crowd and its diversity, and judging from the note that's exactly what you were after, so this is a success :) the perspective is great, the converging walls create an almost hypnotic tunnel effect.
zeca (19762) 2008-07-01 20:27
John_F_Kennedy (43625) 2008-07-01 23:54
Good balance between the parts with b/w and that with light on it. Interesting picture that you composed well.
axiotea (21651) 2008-07-02 1:16
A good choice of vertical format in the presentation of one of the streets of Firenze. The capture of the people add lot of dynamism in your compo and i like the way you've partially desaturated the colors.
npecanhuk (73490) 2008-07-02 3:35
Bom dia Carlos!
jhm (148640) 2008-07-02 4:06
We see one of the most beautiful PP work with the people nice in colour and the rest in B & W.
Excellent the sharpness and the clarity of the B/W building with the rest of the image, tourists and bicycles, as nice colourful decoration elements.
Very well composition and great perspective. TFS.
patdeph (35748) 2008-07-02 6:39
the partial desaturation is a geatidea,I like very much the result,by this way,the people have an important place in the composition! They are not anonym,we look at them!I like the vertical frame, and the beauty of the street!Superb!
albertz (2468) 2008-07-02 7:49
Interesting to see such a narrow alleyway full of people, the touch of colors works well, nice pp work Carlos.
zmey (7335) 2008-07-02 18:53
i know, some folks here dislike partial desaturation, but i really like what you have done here. people seem like piccolo colorful ants swarming the sreet. however, despite their 'ant-ness' their individuality really stands out. hmm. really nice! my compliments, friend!
rodgerg (55767) 2008-07-03 3:07
A superb and very original sight to Firenza. a good use of vertical format. The colored turits are very nice (!) in this wonderful architecture.
Best regards of belgium,
didemay (2945) 2008-07-03 11:38
more emphasis on people couldn't have been given better with any other method...loved your choice on using B&W for people and colors for the buildings and street...
Scharan (14144) 2008-07-04 17:17
Benedict (7076) 2008-07-05 0:30
i like the idea to keep the human elements in colors and the rest in BW tone. amazing work and then the vertical approach works well as it shows vividly all the details..
carper (96) 2008-07-06 10:43
I like it a lot Carlos,
the idea is great, good pov and very orginal in a good composition Good photojob here, have a good evening my friend.
siolaw (38292) 2008-07-07 8:37
HiCarlos, A nice place and time with many people to do this kind of PP.. very well done too.
The vertical framing fits the scene perfectly. Sharp and clear
batalay (37817) 2008-07-07 15:03
Very nicely conceived, beautifully implemented image. I will be in Forence briefly in early August, and will think of this very site as I go under the skywalk between the two buildings. What incredible history. In the new book, "Leonardo's Universe," that my coauthor and I finished writing for the National Geographic, the incredible city gets the proper treatment of imagery and text that was shortchanged in "Math and the Mona Lisa." But, of course, in the earlier book, Leonardo served as a foil for the cross- polynation of disciplines, and Leonardo's intellectual legacy. The new book is just about Leonardo, but with his art and science presented in a balanced manner. But about your photograph, it is absolutely first rate!
bostankorkulugu (42324) 2008-07-08 8:46
...and this one is so special although i dont like degradation carlos... you've managed to create something not ever seen before i think... very very nice, congrats...
danasam (1075) 2008-07-25 6:00
HI Carlos, i think i will request a few techniques lessons from you :) i love what you do with your photos, it is professional. your POV here is excellent, the sharp DOF is outstanding. well done my friend.
nivaldo (15417) 2008-07-25 7:38
Grande imaginação, Carlos!!!
Ótima composição em pp. !
Grande abraço, parabéns e Grazie!
capthaddock (28790) 2008-08-04 16:50
Some people are turned off by this sort of thing, but in my opinion partial desaturation can be effective in creating something unique and creative, this is such an example.
wishlist (4133) 2008-08-14 15:57
Hi my friend,
beautiful daily life portrait here with the excellent partial desaturation playing the main role of the compo. The people and its colours, contrasting with the b&w of the buildings brought life and you emphasized the side of the compo very well. The quality you delivered here is simply stunning. as usual, with great details throughout the shot. I like it!
sebinho342 (19317) 2008-08-21 8:58
Hi Carlos, this picture is really superb, i wonder how many minutes you spent on PP to handle partial saturation but i really applause the result, this BW part has marvelous contrasts and the mix BW colors, history and nowadays is excellent.
All my congratulations
JCG (35129) 2009-01-11 7:23
A superb photographic exercise, I like much this desaturation carried out all in smoothness. The clearness of the image is perfect and allows us to traverse the image with much pleasure. The wide-angle lens gives volume to this beautiful architecture. Beautiful work, cheer Carlos.
With all my friendships, a very good end of WE,
Docarmo (9639) 2009-03-17 7:38
Outro trabalho belíssimo, uma trabalheira danada, né?
Ficou perfeito! A gente vê o tempo passando - as mesmas construções antigas e as pessoas passando ali, geração após geração. Vai para as minhas favoritas!
giorgimer (34941) 2009-09-08 0:10
I love this town, your shot is wonderful, with a very clever PP, great effect.

francio64 (39864) 2009-12-30 4:49
subhendu_bagchi (26081) 2010-04-05 11:33
another great photograph from your gallery. Nice capture of the daily life scene with partially desaturated colours. Great action of street. Nice to see the view with the gorgeous buildings and the alley in vertical format. A very well composed shot.
Have a nice evening.
