The Cinque Terre is very popular and rightly so. The views are spectacular and the photo opportunities many. We were there on a long weekend resulting in it being crowded by both Italian holiday makers and overseas visitors. The area is famous for the walking track that links the 5 towns and the main section "The Via dell'Amore" was a continuous procession.
There are other walks as well as the main one. On the second day there I walked a much quieter trail that took you steeply up to the top of the ridge line from Monterosso then along the ridge for several kilometres before dropping down to finish in Vernazza. You walked high above the terraces of lemon trees, vineyards and olive groves. The only difficulty taking photos from up there was that you didn't get to some of the best views until early afternoon so the light wasn't perfect meaning I had to make some small shadow /highlight adjustments to equalise the light. |
