A sunbreak on a stormy day, illuminated Orvieto's cathedral. It was surrounded by scaffolding for the past few years, it still is in the invisible left side. Something different than a landscape this time, I did not try to correct lens distortion on the building.

I like your pov here showing the facade of the cathedral. The source of the light at the middle starting from upper right is a bit strange but i like the effect. The effect of the perspective distortion is very good, i think it doesn't need a correction.

Wow! 114 views, & only 3-4 critiques? A superb upward pov on the cathedral with superb sharpness, & good colour & lighting contrasts. I like the repetition of the triangles, & the superb blue sky, which contrasts well, against the splashes of pale lemon yellow, on the facade, of this imposing structure. Tfs!

a beautiful church under a beautiful sky...
very nice result even though the distorsion is present, nd may be not very interesting.

Merhaba Tan. Absolutely uplifting shot, not just because it is a cathedral built with faith, but also because of the POV that cranes our neck upwards towards the sky, while the sun lights up all the wonderful details of masonry and mosaic. Exceptional clarity. Selamlar. Klaudio.

And when there is no spectacular captain's pov there is an even more spectacular captain's light, you know what you should play the lottery... Of course the effect on the cathedral facade is just plain superb, love the way it lightens the details.
Have a nice sunday JY

I think trying to correct the distortion would have meant cropping some of the church out of the picture. The light and the sky reminded me straight away of this photo of mine, taken in Fremantle two years ago! Orvieto's cathedral is obviously far bigger and grander, though. Your shot is very sharp and shows well the beautiful coloured artwork.

Golden tones mixed up with dark blue from the sky...wonderful. Pov is classic, but everytime it makes great lines which makes the cathedral even more impressive....very good.

A magnificent building . The beauty of the mosaics are shown well, as are the details of the Gothic architecture. They are all made better by your lovely , stormy sky. regards kevin

Well I see that you had that special capthaddock light with you to get the most out of this photo. The only major change is that this time you're shooting from bottom to top instead of the usual bird's eye view. You managed to bring out the lovely details the the cathedral's decorated façade and the contraste with the dark sky in the back is superb.
Have a nice Sunday.

Wow... very magnificant. This so well lit facade, with so many rich paintings, and the dramatic sky as backgorund, what a beautiful picture.

a beautiful facade of this great church in one of my favourite places in Italy. The views are fantastic in this friendly and not too touristic little town. (And the white wine is very good). The perspective works very well here.

A rare architectural shot in your gallery, here the light on the cathedral against the darker sky is making the whole picture... beautiful!
salvator (19102) 2008-06-01 1:50
Wonderful capture of this cathedral. The sharpness and details, the colors look superb. The color of the stormy sky, and your use of light is wonderful.
Best regards. Salvator.

Fantastic details of the facade, especially the murals against the gold BG, standing out more against the dark sky. This does not have your trademark high POV, but the great light compensates for that! Excellent!
Loos like you're more active in flickr now ;-)

Merhaba Tan Bey,
