Things photography…

99% luck – 1% skills…

And I agree wholeheartedly with that statement…

It was my pure luck that the Fontana Di Trevi was there before its scheduled cleaning and maintenance…
The dust, the smudges, the mould…
A delightful cluster of elements for a photographer…

It was my pure luck that there was no carabinieri around when I stepped INTO Fontana Di Trevi… Water up to my knees – how many seconds of time do I have before they’ll grab me and arrest me…
My excuse that “Anita Ekberg (Marcello...Come !!! ) was there and it was OK with you, eh? “ – wouldn’t be enough this time, perhaps…

It was my pure luck that the weather was good and it took no more than one hour of dragging my feet thru the streets of The Eternal One – to dry up my shoes and my pants - completely. (different story was my wife' reaction upon my return to the hotel)…

It was my pure luck that I abandoned my dia-positives collection for many years and they developed shiit and mould on their own and the beauty of it are quite visible throughout my gallery…

OK…OK… The rest of it is mine… The whole 1% of the photographic skills of a dumb fool who could not afford 25 cents to buy one of the millions of so cute and smooth postcards of Fontana Di Trevi…

Oh, well… Maybe next time…

Judging from your note, this was quite a photo adventure! do we have wild life photo category on TE?
I really love this image, the shadows make it for me, what an interplay of lit and dark areas...no digital can produce this!
Oh, I just remembered I do have a postcard from Fontana di Trevi from a friend long time ago, cute and smooth...i'm off to see if I can recognize the detail.
Great work!

Ktoś to w końcu powinien powiedzieć...
Szkoda...

It's a great one too, IMO - again, daring and again, a very personal interpretation of one detail of that magistral ensemble - trying to imagine how you entered into the water, daytime : this would be impossible nowadays, but even then !
99% luck - but included into it is the luck to be daring and to take advantage of the distraction of the policeman !

After seeing this, I understand how you fell in love with Rome - experiencing the hard - or fun way and enjoying the effort, more than sight-seeing, living all the sensations !

Some details in the lower part are amusing to detect... colour, collages... Does not disturb the ensemble, though... The whole photo with its B&W parts is a mystery to me : a bit baroque in itself ;-))
Cath.

Bravo George! This is a very beautiful shot. And...1981...No digital camera if I am not wrong. Just the way to work of my wonderful husband. Two times bravo, George! A.P.

Pozdrawiam z uklonem. G.
