Photographer’s Note
2 photos today.
The ruined tower above the beach at Villasimius, taken early in the morning. The WS version will show the beach better but without the tower. The tower is accessible by a footpath, probably used by horseback riders during the high season, as the entire trail is paved with horsesh*t.
10mm. focus length, with the obligatory vignetting, 0.6 ND Grad filter used.
The title is in respect to the most overpriced motel room in the world, which seemed to be the only one open in Villasimius at the time. By contrast I paid only 40 Euro in Cala Gonone the day before, which was also the only one open in town, and had a sea view. I know europe has gotten expensive, even for locals, sometimes the prices seem simply outlandish, especially for what you get, and especially in Italy. If the bank of Europe ever prints a 70Euro note, this image should be on it.

Tan,
your sarcasm in your note is terrific and I just can imagine how much it must have been outrageous to pay US$ 105 for this one night in Villasimius. Witht he bad conversion between the US$ and the Euro you will have to start planning your visits to South America and Africa. Latter needs some yellow blanketing on your TE map anyway. At least you got a marvelous wide angle shot on the next morning and the vignetting doesn;t bother me at all. Quite often I do some artificial vignetting on my shots in PP. Something that I learned from late Ansel Adams.

Tan,
This is a very fine photo! The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. Your composition is great placing the ruins of the tower to one side and showing the sea and mountains on the other. The polarizer worked well in this shot giving it deep well saturated colors.

L'endroit est superbe et tu en as tiré une photo splendide (je pourrais même dire 2 photos). j'en aime particulièrement la composition et les couleurs. Quant au prix de l'hôtel, malheureusement cela ne nous surprend même plus!

Hello Tan,
Perfect shot and colors, the POV is fantastic.
You should try to travel in Scotland and you will see that 70 euros is not the most expansive you can pay for a room with no confort...
Thanks, Eric.

Hi Tan,
Two beautiful photos. I like this one most because of the excellent inclusion of the old tower so well in the left foreground. Great view on the sea, hills and town in the background. Thanks for sharing!

Salut captain
Belle image de Cagliari, je n'étais pas loin a deux ou trois jours de décalage.
Belle image équilibrée et d'une intensité agréable.
Pour le prix, il" t'a pris pour un Américain" comme on dit chez moi.
A plus !! Friendly

The colours in this shot are really jaw dropping - so vivid and clear without being overdone. Great near/far type of composition too, with the ruined tower anchoring the whole shot. Well done!

Hi Tan
As I mentionned to you, there are 3* motels in Australia which cost more than €70. But I agree that €70 is excessively high for the low season. Anyway the Genoese tower is very attractive and I like how the yellow flowers contrast with the blue of the sea. The light is so much nicer than in summer.

Hi Tan,
I like the humour in your note almost as much as the gorgeous photo.
We already know of your mastery with light and wide angle lenses, and here it is another good example. Everything in the image seems to lead the eye to the tower, even the light is brighter on it (I wonder if the PP helped here). Wonderful colours also.
Much the same could be said about the WS.

Tan,
Excellent detail, particularly in the foreground vegetation leading up to the tower, which makes the foreground very strong.
The workshop photo is a useful addition too.

Hi Tan
70 € is not very expensive for an hôtel in France.
But you have bed & Breakfast called Gites de France at 50 € for 2 persons with the breakfast much better than hotel.
In France we suffer from the high artificial value of our currency.
Very nice view indeed with a beautiful luminosity.
Cheers.

Hi Tan, I've taken a shot exactly from the same point 3 years ago in Villasimius! Sardinia is filled with old Spanish towers and usually the sight from there is breathtaking (as in this place, you can simply see the Mediterranean sea at 360°.
BTW, what you saw on the ground weren't horses**ts (when I went there it was filled with homo sapiens sapiens' s**ts). You know, Italy is expensive but with all that money they did not build a lavatory near the beach...it's a shame ! I'm sorry for these problems in my country.
Bye and TFS
Stefano
