A day trip to Palmanova was just I required last weekend. The weather was nice and quite inviting for a trip out of Trieste.
A quick look at my list of 'nearby places to see' revealed Palmanova, which is unique in its own way. Given that it has been a centre of busy warfarers in the past, now it can only boast of a peaceful easy going slow life, which any visitor is bound to appreciate.
The unique point in the architecture is its planning, built in the shape of a nine-faced star, with a big hexagonal square in the center and only three gates to enter the fortified city... impressive indeed.
I come from India, where fortress cities are quite common.. and so I was eager to see what the Italian version looks like.
This shot is taken around the central square. |

Hi Arnab!
I never would have thought to compare Palmanova to India forteress! So much different!! In the flat land and not on a hill.
There are maintained palms in the square to confirm the name Palma - nova!
I like the way you shot looking at the sun!
This square is so difficult to photograph and to describe from ground level! Here your compo is so nice: wheels, a circle, some lines (I like all these elememnts and I use them too in my last pics - so I appreciate in your!!)
Ciao!

Hi there!
Nice contrast and composition u have there!
I 'd prefer the bicycle shadow entire in your frame but the decisive moment sometimes is so difficult!
Well done
Alex
