~Pompeii is a buried and ruined Roman city near modern Naples in the Italian region of Campania, in the territory of the comune of Pompei.
It was destroyed during a catastrophic eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius spanning two days on 24 August 79 AD.
~Today, Pompeii has become a popular tourist destination; with approximately 2.5 million visitors a year, it is the most popular tourist attraction in Italy.
It is now part of a larger Vesuvius National Park and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997.

A great perspective in this shot ... the image is sharp right into the distance showing good depth of field. Good work.

Awesome shot of this tight street. You have worked very well with your PP giving out nice saturation and contrast. The narrow street provides good leading perspective with details along the way. Thanks for sharing this complemented by well written notes.
Have a nice day.

A great perspective here of this Pompeii laneway, I like how the line of sight is disturbed by some bold shadow effects. The illuminated walls of the ancient city have a strong texture to them which becomes a feature of the scene. The black frame is good, helps to contrast with the lighter portions of the view. I would recommend that you try to lower your saturation levels a little bit as the clouds look a little too colourful and the stones in the shadow have a green tinge to them. Thanks for the post from this historic ruin.
I thought that the Vatican, Coliseum and Venice would have perhaps more visitors annually. I did not know of Pompeii’s title as the most popular tourist destination. Wow.

Hi Paulina, i visit your gallery and see many photo's with this tight perspective that results in lovely compositions. This one i like the most because of the geometrie and also because the presence of the human figure shows well how big the city was that unfortunally was destroyd.
