Photographer’s Note

Milan Cathedral (Italian: Duomo di Milano) is the cathedral church of Milan in Lombardy, northern Italy. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Milan, currently Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi.

The cathedral is significant in the promulgation of the Christian faith, for its role in the establishment of Catholic traditions of worship, its outstanding musical heritage and the splendour of its Gothic architecture.

Built from the late 14th well into the 19th century (and in a sense, never completed as work continues), the Duomo di Milano is one of the world's largest churches, being second in size within Italy only to Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome, and being the second largest Gothic cathedral in the world, after the Cathedral of Seville in Spain.

The interior height of its central nave is surpassed only by the remaining choir of Beauvais Cathedral in France.

Fantasy shot! Your point of view is incredible and I like the dramatic atmosphere which there is in this one! Shock of civilizations! Magnificent silhouettes of statues!... Really I am impressed... Thousand congratulations for this one....

Patrzac na miniature podejrzewalem HDR i nie pomylilem sie. Ladne detale architektoniczne, moze troche przycialbym gory aby sciesnic kadr. Interesujace miejsce i udany efekt obrobki.

Hello Pawell,

An astonishingly beautiful image, with that glow in the misty atmosphere. I was in Milan last year in July, and how I regret not climbing to the top. But your photo is spectacular for its timing, composed exquisitely, and exposed flawlessly. In writing a book on Leonardo, I know how his life revolved around the Duomo. He even entered a composition to build a dome, but he was only a finalist. He did not win the competition

Fantastic HDR, Pawel, the shot looks like a pinting with its sinister atmosphere! also the POV couldn't be better with this row of sculptures on the column tops looking like some weird army...
