for me an unsharp reiling does not match the sharp mask which is one of focal points of this photo. better DOF would certainly help. the overall sharpness might be also better. there is too much space between the 2 main objects - the whole center does not play meaningfull role. Maybe a step left (if it was possible would change the perspective)
but somehow I like the mood of this picture.
btw I think the color version is better
