Ponte Vecchio - Firenze Photo

Photographer’s Note

The Old Bridge (Italian: Ponte Vecchio) is a medieval bridge over the river Arno, in Florence, Italy, noted for having shops built along it. Butchers initially occupied the shops; the present tenants are jewelers, art dealers and souvenir sellers. It has been described as Europe's oldest wholly-stone, closed-spandrel segmental arch bridge.

I really recommend that everybody at some point in their life take the time to visit the city of Florence.

Hello Liliana,

A magnificent image of a magnificent site. We were there on July 13, exactly two weeks before you. However, since it was a shore excursion from a cruise that docked in Livorno for the day, I could just visit the Uffizi, and a few other places. What a magical city; A world class museum, or a country, can be built around a Leonardo painting or a Michelangelo statue, Florence is where they functioned and left their artistic legacies. Your photo is magical, and the the frame you've made for it is entirley complementary.

Hi Lili,
This is a very pleasant picture to look at, taken at blue hour, my prefered moment in day for photography. I don't know if you used a tripod or if you did it handheld (i would opt for handheld here seeing the foreground not looking 'ice') but the result is very beautiful, ok ok some burnt parts in bridge but i really don't care ... I would have loved to make that shot, to settle my tripod and admire this POV.
Perhaps a brutal use of neating as i see some artefacts in buildings ? ... Anyway i like that shot

un pont très connu sous un angle nouveau, un peu heure bleue. Je pense que le photo est un rien surexposée au niveau des lumières du pont, un rien de sous exposition globale aurait arrangé bien des petits problèmes.

Another one of those great noght shots we often see in your gallery. This time with one classic, but always beautiful view, of Venice's 'Ponte Vecchio' and the surrounding houses. I like specially the contrast between the dark tones of the river and the softer ones in the sky. Also the light is very important here bringing up many details on the right handside facades. The big ball in the sky created by the moon is a great bonus.

the classic view of Florence with the Ponte Vecchio as a night scene an yet different of the usual with the off center, soft and slightly blurred moon dominating the sky. Good moment to get this at the blue hour.
Great shot and I have already seen this scene myself but in my dreams I certainly will be there to floow your advice for a second time.

This is a very nice place.
The right part of the picture is very well exposed.
The left one is very lightened.
I think it's possible for you to make several shots in manual mode with -1/3, -2/3, -1 ...-2 under exposure.
th'at's my secret :).
