Photographer’s Note
Continuing with my travelogue: after a day of cycling from Urbino to Gubbio, I took advantage of our rest day to explore the town. Much less tourist-trod than Urbino, but at least as fascinating in my view, this image is only the seventh TE posting from this town. It was a rather grey and cool day, but I managed to catch a hint of sunshine during the morning. This huge building which dominates the town is the Palazzo dei Consoli which is now a museum.
The city's origins are very ancient: as Ikuvium, it was an important town of the ancient Umbrian people in pre-Roman times, and is famous for the discovery there of the Eugubine (or Iguvine) Tables, a set of bronze tablets that together constitute the largest surviving text in ancient Umbrian. After the Roman conquest in the 2nd century BC the city remained important, as attested by its Roman theatre, the second-largest surviving in the world. Today the historical center of Gubbio is of decidedly medieval aspect: the town is austere in appearance because of the dark grey stone, narrow streets, and Gothic architecture.
Looking down to the left you can see the white shades of the busy market in the square, while the red flag just visible is one of thousands put up for the annual town festival – the Corsa dei Ceri, which had been held a couple of days earlier.
This is a stitch of three vertical shots at 18mm. As a WS I’m posting a different crop – which do you prefer?

Bonsoir Susanna

Amicalement, Brigitte

Hi Susanna,
Great POV in this one. I like a lot the roofs, its texture, like a pattern. I like two how the castle is a kind of starting point for our eyes to see this vast horizon! The light is extraordinary! Congratulations!

Angel.

Hi Susanna,
There is great depth in this photo, and I like your generous proportion of foreground, with the orange and red tones so pleasing. The tower is nicely off to the side, and there is the wonderful mini scene of the countryside unfolding in the distance. Very fine work...later.

Ciao Bella,

It's an interesting view over the town Susanna, and I like the off-centre placement of the palace.
I've never tried photo-stitching myself, but it's worked well for you here and allowed you to get a much wider view than you could have done otherwise.
I think I'd have preferred it if you'd framed it a bit further forward so that the rooves ran the whole way along the bottom of the frame, just to get rid of that triangular gap. I did a quick WS.
All in all it's well taken, and a good example of the stitching technique - I'll have to give it a go!
Cheers,
Ben

No question about it, I prefer this one with the three images stitched. It has a much better balance as the castle is well situated to the right of the image. The POV is very good so the whole sweep of the roof tops lead our eye right to the town scenery. Very good work.

Susanna, I never would have though that this is a stitched photography. The outcome is splendid! Regarding your question which I prefer comparing all three images I place my favorite as the 3 stitched and cropped one. I like to plunge in this image right away on the roof without that "hole" in the foreground. Good composition with the castle to the right and the city and hills to the left.

Hi Susanna - flawles stitch, I would never have guessed that this was one, there isn't that much difference with the WS version, maybe I prefer the other one as the fg is "cleaner", but the proportions seemed it a bit panoramic, I guess I had an issue with the antenna at the lower left and the wall in the bottom right corner.
