Photographer’s Note
I visited Florence for a day and waited for most of the four hour wait for entrance into the Uffizi Gallery. When I wasn't waiting (and my friends were holding our places in the queue) I used the excuse that I was going to buy us pastries to go take some pictures and get out of the line.
This is the Ponte Vecchio which crosses the Arno river. Originally made of wood, it was destroyed by flooding in 1333 and rebuilt in stone. It is now the oldest all stone arch bridge in italy.
In world war II when the germans were retreating from italy, they destroyed every bridge in the city. However, due to what is believed to be orders from hitler, they did not destroy Ponte Vecchio.
Shot in raw, sharpened, 50 % opacity color burn history brush on the sky, overlay history brush on Ponte Vecchio and The water.

bonjour Alan,

This is just gorgeous lighting. The composition is really good with the bridge and the river. The sky is very dynamic. The colors seem to be very accurate. Very well done.

Alan,
your composition is great and the clouds gives a fantastic sense of depth to this classic shot of Florence. However, you have to be a little more careful prior posting and I know that the PP is not you favorite part in photography (at least that is my understanding reading through your intro). There are several dust particles in the sky that should have been removed. Also the bird at the very left part of the sky is more disturbing than helping. It could be removed easily with cloning or you should have waited some fractions of a second to have it more in the middle of the shot and would be a great add.

The clouds in the sky enhance the perspective of this shot - good choice of vertical format to include them. The colours are nice and rich and the image is generally of a good quality. Nice work,
Best wishes

Hello Alan
The reflections are good in the rich bright light. The diagonal compo. provides depth & you've got nice clouds in the sky. Wondering if the spots in the clouds are dust particles or birds. Nice work!
