Photographer’s Note
A yellow graphite on a column! The town is no more perfectly clean.
"Portici" are built in many Northern Italy towns to allow people walking when it rains, and it rains often. When there is sun the arches create a lovely drowing on the ground.
Udine (Friulian Udin, Slovene Videm) is a city in northeastern Italy, capital of the historical region of Friuli, in the middle of Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, between the Adriatic sea and the Alps (Alpi Carniche), less than 40 km from the Slovenian border. Its population was 96,750 in 2006, 169,000 with the urban area. (a short info from English Wikipedia)

Hallo Livia!
Here you have had very difficult light conditions - but you managed to take a beautiful picture. The point of view creates a wonderful depth here. Walking there must be fun ....
Greetings from hot (37°C) and sunny Germany!

C'e una detto che i portici sono per le principesse mentre la strada per la plebe...
A Torino si dice che i portici erano fatti per le signore della corte che andavano a passeggio in questo modo si riparavano dal sole e dalla pioggio come dici tu nella nota...
Bella composizione, Livia!!! Ottima la gestione della luce.
Cecco.

Hello Livia,
I like the opening line in your intro, "My question is: have I to visit a place once, and then travel to see other countries, or come back more times to the same place? I feel nostalgia of the countries I have already seen, but I 'll see not much of the world if I ever go back to my beloved countries." I believe it was Søren Kierkegaard who said, "Only robbers and gypsies say, 'one must never return to where one has once been."
You have some beautiful shots, and you have traveled a great deal -- so you must be neither a gypsy nor a robber. I like this shot of the cloisters. In Torino, especially, I saw endless covered sidewalks. This is nicely composed, nicely expoposed. There is also a informative note, in the best tradititon of Trekearth.
Have a nice weekend,
Bulent
