This is a shot looking down one of the main streets in ancient Pompeii. I visited it in May and was just over-awed by the splendour of the architecture, the social development and the culture of the people. It was unbelievably wonderful. If you have ever been to a place that you have always wanted to visit, you find yourself pinching your skin to make sure it is real!
I particularly wanted to share this as it shows the technical skill of the road builders. I wish the lanes near me were as good as this!

I love the PoV, and the details. It's a pity you couldn't have been there at a different hour to get a better sky -- not something we can control at all!

A good POV to show how wide these streets were, and nice inclusion of a lot of the cobbled road in FG, and all tourists a bit far! Good sharpness and nice soft colors.

I also am bewitched from the history of Pompei and Ercolano, and you must consider that they were a kind of spa for rich people caming from Rome, no surprise that here it was the best...Beautiful perspective and a sunny day.
We also have two days with sun and wind, it seems spring more then summer, but I'm not complaining: I hate hot temperatures!
I will post something...

Estupenda foto de esa calle de Pompeya que nos da una idea de la grandeza que tuvo esta ciudad. Buena profundidad y detalles.
Estuve ahí hace unos tres años y me encantó.

The lovely patterns and rich textures of this stone street makes an excellent lead-in to the remarkable Roman ruins.
I did get a bag of coal for Christmas which I suspect my wife and granddaughters were responsible for and not Father Christmas. My one granddaughter said I got what I deserved for teasing them so much. They all got a big laugh out of my long expression of dissappointment.
Well I have learned my lesson and will try not to tease but a year is a long time.

Good morning Beverly,
The day planned on going to Pompei, was pouring rain - so I admit I miss this place altogether.
Many tourists gave vivid tone to this destroyed ancient town, added colors to the streets cover volcanic residue. I can imgine how was to stroll in old times through town.
Superb DOF and clarity achieved, nicely presented.
Enjoy your weekend,
