Photographer’s Note

Susa is a city in Piedmont, Italy. It is situated on a tributary of the Po River, at the foot of the Cottian Alps, 51 km (32 mi) west of Turin.
Susa (ancient: Segusium) was founded by the Gauls. In the 1st century AD it became freely part of the Roman Empire. Remains of the Roman city have been founded in the excavations of the central Savoy Square.
In the Middle and Modern ages Susa maintained an importance as a hub on the roads connecting southern France to Italy. During the Napoleonic era a new road, the Via Napoleonica, was built. This role has been confirmed until recent times, when a nation-wide dispute arose about the construction of the Turin-Lyon high-speed rail (Treno Alta Velocità|TAV) to France. A popular movement called NO TAV was created in consequence: it has launched several demonstrations, attracting wide media coverage and pushing authorities to momentarily suspend the works.

Très belle photo, le couleurs sont mangifiques et bien équilibre, j'aime bien ce rose avec ce blan au fond de cette belle rue.

Beautiful place. The colours of the buidings and the architecture itself create a nice contrast with the natural surroundings. A good composition with god details and the bell tower taking a good focal point. Nice work Silvio.

Ciao Silvio,
This is again an inviting and comprehensive view from your camera. The bell tower and the other part of the street is beautifully balanced and the depth is emphasized quite effectively by the road and the grand mountains at the BG. Composition and the proportions are so nicely measured and the vertical compo is a must here. It is somehow an interesting point to see the Austro-Hungarian baroque in Italy. But when we consider that it is the Northern region, the issue becomes understandable.

This is a great street scene with excellent lighting and contrast. The color and sharpness are great as well. The mountain background frames the church very well.

This lovely pink and white building lit up at the end of the street is very eye catching. The vertical format enhances the height of the tower and the mountains behind. I especially like the snow capped peak peeping out at the top. Nicely done!

io sono di Torino, sai quante volte sono passato di qui quando abitavo ancora in Italia...
Bellissima inquadratura verticale e grande contrasto tra la scena cittadina ed i pendii scoscesi con la cima innevata a far capolino. Mi piacciono molto anche la qualita` della luce ed i colori pastello, veramente una bella foto, bravo!
