STORY OF MONTEFALCIONE
Founded from the Normans, also it was called "Montefalzone" and "Montefaucione". According to some the name derives from "the mount" union with the plant name felix, that is fern, or falx, that is scythe. According to others Mount of Falcon, reported to the bird of prey.
Montefalcione is an agricultural center on the watershed of the rivers "Sabato" (Saturday) and "Calore" (Heat).
Historical signals:
The common one is famous also in order to have been theatre, in the first years of the unit of Italy of one massacre carried out from part of the Piedmont's troops on the unarmed population.
Geographic signals:
The main characteristic is the position between forests of chestnut trees, oaks and junipers that alternate themselves to the cultivations of oliv, screw and trees from fruit. The territory of the common one turns out comprised between the 271 and 668 meters on the sea level.
To cite also the immense and rich handicraft production (wood, marble and iron). The economy is based on the production of grape and olive and on the breeding. The summer assumes a hearty connotation in occasion of the "Night of fires pyrotechnicians" who see the best fireworkers (fuochisti) engage in a contest that recalls thousands of tourists from all the Campania.
Buildings of remarkable interest:
The Medieval Castle, poderosa Aragonese construction, transformed in residence.
The Church of Santa Maria Assunta, to three navate with numerous works of art, is of 700's origin and is center of the Sanctuary of S.Antony from Padova.
The Church of Saint John introduces a splendid income and an ancient holy water stoup. Santa Maria di Loreto, is a Sanctuary, constructed to half of ` the 500, that she guards remarkable works of art and the "Sepolcro di Lucrezia Poderico" of Tommaso Malvisto.

Una foto bella con molta luce, peccato sia un pò sporca, comunque
secondo WS di Giorgio rende merito alla tua foto...la resa più pulit ed con un buon taglio (da cartolina). Avete fatto un buon lavoro!!
