Palazzo delle terme #1 Photo

Photographer’s Note

I told a few friends about this mini series on the Palazzo delle terme (Palace of therms) where the National Italian swimming federation is training. This building was erected in 1937 and its walls are covered with marbles and mosaics from the scuola Mosaicisti, that decorated most of the Foro Italico under the supervision of Antonio Baldini.

Ben, il est ou?? je pensais que tu aurais mis ton appareil sur trépied, puis régler le timer et sauter du plongeoir le plus haut...

une bonne photo qui serait encore meilleure avec un plongeur quand même..histoire de donner un écho à ces fesques...

Salut Eric,
So interesting... these Stalinist-looking Fascist works on the wall remind me of some childhood monstrosities created in the Communist era... but that really is the charm of this shot, just as much as a photo can have the power with the most bizarre of themes in it. Thanks for recording this part of Rome for us, I wouldn't ever know of it, and find it endlessly fascinating.

Very interesting photo, with unusual subject and nice composition. It is really wired how this "eroic" art, although it is connected with such a dark era, has always a charm.
