Photographer’s Note

An evening scene of of one of the many canals in Venice. I don't recall the exact location of this shot but it was north of the centre on the way to the Grand Doges Hotel. I couldn't resist the colours of this scene taken in the blue hour just after sunset.

Hi Jonathan,
Looks like we're neighbours in TE's gallery tonight! This is a lovely shot of Venice taken during the blue hour. I agree with you: the colours are beautiful and I appreciate the fact that you're posting a view from a small canal instead of the classic view of Venice that we've seen so many times.

very great image because of its cool atmosphere, mood, coloures and documentary values those are close to artistic photography, well captured evening street scene and as well that reflection is such a face of "venice" as i remember it

Hi Jonathan. A beautiful "blue-hour" feel in this scene from Venice, with a good perspective along the canal and a fine mood provided by the lights along the waterside restaurants, and the reflections on the water. I like to see such a "backside" view of Venice as opposed to some of the often-shown classical vistas. Very nice shot, well done.

Lovely scene taken when the spring weather might have made outdoor tables a realistic proposition, but thankfully devoid of swarming tourists. Very well exposed to give a clear, sharp image. Good viewpoint which allows us to look down the canal past that strong foreground boat on the right. The colours stand out nicely in spite of the hour. Ver pleasing image, Jonathan.

I haven;t seen too many of your shots lately, but this is a very welcome reminder. This is an incredibly well executed shot, with the light managed just right and a good composition with everything well balanced. The open space down the canal really draws our eye in that direction, and hold the shot together very well. This looks very professional!

Hello Jonathan,
Back after a while with a lovely shot at the blue hour of lovely Venezia. The colours and light are so nice, along with the perfect reflections of the buildings on water. I like to see the activity going on what seems to be the outside of a bar or restaurant, the tables aligned on the esplanade, the boats tied...
