Photographer’s Note
This is the strictest point (3 km from coast to coast) of the Strait of Messina exactly between the old red and white electric pylons (not more used nowadays). In this point they would to build a fantascientific bridge that connects Sicilia to Calabria. People (me too) are against this project. The photo was taken from "Campo Italia" a panoramic point that only who lives in Messina knows. On the left you can see also two small lakes: Ganzirri lake (the biggest in foreground) and Faro lake behind. I posted photos of these two lakes taken last year in the same season.

Thanks for sharing!

Well, I have have to say I am for the bridge. But I understand why one would want to leave this setting like it is. It is beautiful. And is that the whirlpool effect described in the Odyssey as one of the monsters in the strait? Perhaps it could be cropped just above the clouds to focus on the path out.
The scale here is certainly clear and I can imagine what a bridge would look like. I think it wouldn't be so bad when I think of other places like the Golden Gate or the closer Straits of Mackinac before their bridges. And I know the problems with living in a place that does not have the river crossing capacity that it should and all the backups it causes and the losses it causes.
