Photographer’s Note

I spent a year in school in Genoa when I was 16 and lived with an italian family during that time...this is a memory from my trips in the ligurian riviera during those days... The scan is not perfect..sorry, I am not an expert at all with scanning..and soon I'll get back to my digital camera.. ;o)

This almost looks like a painting. the scanning may not be perfecte but it yielded a great phot with beautiful colors and a relaxed mood. The composition is great and the sky is quite beautiful.

Le scan donne très bien et cela me rappelle aussi des vacances en Ligurie quand j'étais petit en 1984! Les couleurs de l'Italie sont très bien rendues. Bravo!

Childhood memories are sacred! And when we are lucky enough to have spent it in a beautifull area, it makes it even more priceless. I like the picture, but I like the comment even more, it makes it a whole, I can feel your feeling of "tempi passati" through the picture of a lovely mediterrannean harbour.

belle image de ce célèbre endroit.
Les maisons étroites et colorées nous situent tout de suite l'endroit.
Elle est belle cette côte.
Le scan n'est pas mal du tout.

Not a bad scan at all, pretty sharp shot, with good deffinition in the building details. Maybe a bit too much contrast for the foliage on the hill.

Hi Leonie. A beautiful shot for sure. I wouldn't apologize for the scan at all, it's just fine. I like how the colors turned out so saturated for you. It's very different for you to do a shot like this with so much saturation and contrast. Perhaps the sharpness could be improved a teeny bit but that's about it. Nice one and thanks for sharing this with us Leonie!

Wooow, un petit retour dans le passé, c'est toujours agréable de redecouvrir de vieilles photos et c'est sympa de les partager avec nous. Une petite ville au bord de l'eau aux couleurs du sud comme je les aime. Elles sont trop belles ces maisons toutes alignees, les couleurs sont ravissantes.

j'ai l'impression d'avoir déjà vu ce port avec toutes ces belles façades il n'y a pas très longtemps... j'aime beaucoup les tons chauds, tu as eu de la chance de vivre ici quelque temps, plus chaud en tout cas qu'en Irlande!!!

Les contrastes vont paraîre un peu fort sur certains écrans, et pourtant c'est ce qui me semble convenir à l'endroit.
j'aime bien les volutes de verdure sur la partie supérieure et la richesse des tons sur les maisons.
Bonne lumière et endroit remarquable;

Pour le scan, je trouve que cela va, enfin en tout cas a cette taille. la region de Genoa, me parait superbe a ce que j'en sais notement les criques et endroit pour buller au soleil

ben dis donc tu voyages pour une jeunette!! Une belle image de Portofino que je ne connais pas.
De beaux souvenirs, j'en suis certain. je suis passé à Gênes lundi.
des côtes cassées après une cascade a VTT.. mais tout va bien. bonne Corse, nous , il nous faut attendre encore un peu...:)

Hi Leonie, I like this post card style picture. The character of the city on the riverside is well depicted in this well composed photo. You have done a good job in processing the scanned picture. The saturation is a little on the strong side. The contrast is very nice and the result is very clear and sharp. Thanks for sharing your story as well.

Très joli prise de Portofino, j'en ai souvent entendu parlé, mais je n'y suis jamais allé.
Ta photo me donne ca de plus envie de découvrir cet endroit.

Personally I find the scanning quite acceptable. With some more sharpness, and recovering details from the shadows to balance the exposure there would not be much difference to digital.

Regarding the motive I like a lot these old colored houses, and the hill behind. It creates a cozy and protective feeling. Also find interesting the lens distortion although a small rotation to the right could be a good option.

Coucou Léonie, je constate que tu as changé de bouille sur ta page d'intro, non ? Joli sourire :) Une photo ici dans le style de Paolo, pas trop de netteté mais c'est justement ça qui est intéressant ici, les couleurs saturées et variées sotn un vrai régal pour mes yeux.
