Photographer’s Note
I'd like to think that you only see something like this in Venice if you avoid the packed areas like Piazza San Marco and the Ponte Rialto. Both of those locations were so packed with people that I could barely walk, and I decided if I'm going to really enjoy Venice I ought to walk AWAY from these areas. And my wanderings paid off. This is just one example of what you'll see in the less-traveled neighborhoods of Venice. This area didn't have as many picturesque canals and gondolas but it did have picturesque streets with clotheslines almost everywhere you looked.

Hi Geoffrey,
The tilt you use for the photo make me feel I am drunk :-) Did you try mono? IMHO the lines will be more visible.
Thank you,
Sergey

Maybe no picturesque canals but there's definitely more to Venice than picturesque canals as you show us here. In this it's the perspective and textures that really look great. Textures especially. Your tilted point of view is interesting and actually doesn't bother me. I like what it adds to the shot. It plays well with the lines of the buildings and clothes lines. And it places the person in a good place to add more activity. The colors also look very good here. Nice idea.
