Cloister of San Gregorio
The sixteenth-century cloister with two rows of the rectory of St. Gregory is one of the lesser-known minor monuments of Spoleto.
It is accessed by a door to the left of the porch.
This area was allocated to the oldest hospital in Spoleto, documented since 1178, ruined by mismanagement of the canons of St. Gregory and replaced by the new building site near the Monastery of the Star.

Hi Silvio, Nice play of light here on those different sizes of the arches. The arches in the BG provide the scale to the one in the FG. Nice POV along with details and clarity. The light on the plant on the right side has warm effect to the composition, pity is that the head of the lady is hiding by part of the tree leaves. Great presentation over all. Warm regards

J'aime beaucoup ces couvents, surtout au niveau des espaces intérieurs avec de très belles arches.Ici, un beau jeu d'ombre et de lumière et un grand calme.

Ciao Caro Silvio,
A very well taken shot where contrasts of light and shadow could have created problems. I like the use of the repeating arches, in the f/g and b/g, with fine capture of textures. The whole is beautifully composed.
It's a pity the lady's had is hidden behind the sunlit leaves but she probably wasn't in shot when you set up your camera!
Have a good day,

Every time see your pictures from Umbria, it get my wonderful memory back. I miss the little ancient hill town I once visited there.
For this picture, I like the shadows of the columns on the ground, very nice.

Hello Silvio - Cloisters and loggia are a notable feature on so much Italian architecture and they provide excellent features for a photographer. The play of light and shade, the rhythmic shapes of the arches are a delight to see in this shot. A small improvement could have been made if the woman had been placed on the vertical third but a good architectural shot.

Ciao caro Silvio,
A very well composed photograph of this interesting old building where you have chosen an excellent viewpoint to show off the various rows of arches, each constructed of wonderful old handmade bricks with fabulous textures. Your control of the light is excellent with full details visible in both the deepest shadows and also in the very brightest parts of the image.
Lovely light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.

A sensational POV of this beautiful cloister, I really like how you've captured the shadows and lights, also these first arcs in the foreground give a nice view of the courtyard.
A gorgeous image with good color, high brightness and perfect sharpness.
Have a good week.
Very well done. I love it.
All the best, my friend.

Very impressive grand architectural picture with 3 D feel and the classic composition showing the cloister and its styles. Lovely tones; the warmth of the aged stonework and the cool shadows, lots of sharpness of detail and loads to look at to hold ones interest. The surrounding light is brilliant the exposure is spot on and made lively by the bit of blue sky. This makes it all the more interesting to discover about the place. Interesting subject and a well taken shot. Congrats
