Photographer’s Note

The Ponte Vecchio is the oldest bridge in Florence. It was built by the Etruscans, first in 1333 out of wood and re-built again in 1345 out of stone. It has survived much since, including World War II, during which all the bridges in Florence over the Arno were destroyed except for the Ponte Vecchio. The Ponte Vecchio is unique because it has jewlery shops built on it. Most of the shopowners live in the apartments above the shops overlooking the Arno.

This shot was taken at dusk. Another improvised long exposure -- this time, I sat my camera on the railing, which was at the perfect height for taking photos like this.
