Photographer's Note

A long walk outside the main tourist zones up a steep hill to a small park with thousands of people and hundreds of pickpockets. And it's one of the most divinely beautiful places I've ever been.

This is the classic view from the Piazzale Michelangelo. From this vantage point, you can see Florence's duomo (cathedral), the Palazzo Vecchio (the Old Palace), and of course the Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge). It seems sunrise would be a beautiful time to go, and there would be fewer people. But sunset was plenty beautiful as well.
