A closer look a some of the wall paintings to be found in Parma Cathedral.
Parma Cathedral is a major cathedral church in Parma, Emilia-Romagna (Italy), built in Italian Romanesque style.
The construction was begun in 1059 by bishop Cadalo, later antipope with the name of Honorius II, and was consecrated by Paschal II in 1106. A basilica existed probably in the 6th century, but was later abandoned; another church had been consecrated in the rear part of the preceding one in the 9th century by the count-bishop Guibodo. The new church was heavily damaged by an earthquake in 1117 and had to be restored. Of the original building, remains can be seen in the presbytery, the transept, the choir and the apses, and in some sculpture fragments. The wide façade was completed in 1178: it has three loggia floors and three portals, whose doors were sculpted by Luchino Bianchino in 1494. Between the central and the right doors is the tomb of the mathematician Biagio Pelacani, who died in 1416.
The Gothic belfry was added later, in 1284-1294: a twin construction on the left side had been conceived, but it was never begun. Beside the Cathedral lies the octagonal Baptistry of Parma.

a nice architecture cum artwork is here. You got this frame nicely where the use of the arch as a natural frame is a great addition. It provided the depth here. Superb capture. Tfs.

A fine complimentary shot to you last upload Stephen. I like your framing of the delicately coloured murals and I must compliment you on your light management. I notice that here on TE there are a few people who seem to have the technique for exposure in ecclesiastical interiors mastered. Here you use a high ISO and and 10 sec s/s. Was the shot hand held and what was your PP work? I would love to get some help on this type of shot. Have a lovely Sunday. Rosemary

Superbly managed the painted walls of the cathedral, Stephen, and marvelous POV chosen under the arch.
Light and clarity well taken with notable differences between the main hall and where you stood taking the photo.
A fine distinct photo.

Excellent wall close-up photo with very nice colors, perfect light, very good clarity. The view of the painting is very well framed by the building arch. The well-chosen tight crop eliminates all unwanted distractions. Well done.

Beautiful framing of these amazing paintings by use of the arch, this is a wonderful way to present this. And the paintings themselves are incredible, the colors having withstood times passing so beautifully well. The light is handled perfectly too, really nicely done.
All the best

Good Morning Stephen,
The paintings are a wonderful attraction and captured, here, with a fine clarity. They appear to have such fluidity as they move over the arches.
I really like how you have used the f/g arch as a feature through which we see the paintings. The use of the arch in the b/g adds depth and repetition.
Have a lovely day,

a great idea to frame the wall paintings with a distinctive architectural pattern of the other side of the nave. You achieved your aim effectively, creating an elegant and attractive composition. The view through the arch is beautiful, definition is excellent both in the foreground and in the view ahead. It's interesting that the pattern of the frame is found in different versions in the opposite side too. Lighting and colours have a delightful mildness. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
