The spire of St Marks & the Grand Canal from the grounds of St George in Venice has been relegated to 2nd place in this composition. (In Italian, San Marco & San Giorgio). There was an outdoor exhibit of large shell sculptures at the attached art gallery. This is a helmet shell. The gold color was perfect against the deep blue sky.

Lucky you to be in Venise at the time of this exhibition
It provides you with a strong colorful and luminous FG, yet keeping in the BG the clear view that we are in Venise
A nice picture, bravo

The distance between the sculpture and the tower is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the sculpture. THe good luminosity is making the colors to stand out. Have a nice day.

Très impressionnante comme oeuvre d'art. Elle brille littéralement au soleil , mais son arrière plan prend presque la vedette dans cette belle image profonde.

Oh that is wonderfull photo.
I love that giant shell and little tinny details on the sides: people standing in shadow, torch hanging from the wall and some picture i gues advertisement lol on the building all that makes photo very intersting and colorful.
Great shot, thank you for sharing.

A striking shot Chris with fantastic sharpness and detail in the golden shell. The strong light has worked really well here bringing out elements of light and shade which give form to the sculpture. What a perfect setting too. Very interesting and finely managed shot. Warm regards Rosemary

Superbe cette œuvre d'art qui remplit tout l'écran. Tu l'as saisi de façon magnifique.
Bravo et bonne soirée.

too bad you couldn't move over JUST a little bit more to get the full circular dome in the photo on the left....but thats just nit picking on my part.
because of the strange and unique perspectives going on in this scene, its hard to know how large this shell really is. Is it super big? i looks huge.
the F11 did an excellent job in keeping the architecture in fairy good sharpness for how far back it is.

Hi Chris, How lucky you were being there during this exhibition. Unusual photo from Venice from were everything has been already shown. I like this golden huge shell very much, such marvelous contrast with the blue sky. But I see here something strange near San Marco, like a big movie screen. What is it???
Warm regrads MAlgo

A great viewpoint to make this very attractive shell sculpture your focal point. It is not what is usually captured in Venice, and yet you have included enough of the iconic features of the city for us to know exactly where it is situated.
The textural details are very strong and the whole image beautifully sharp. The light/shadow contrasts add much to the enjoyment of the shot.
Have a great day, hope the rain's stopped,

Once more, you managed to obtain an unusual capture of a city so plenty of tourist and photographed of all possible angles
Yours is unique with great contrast and Venise at the back
Just read your answer to Emka, a real pity to let advertising spoils views in that way
Congrats for your creativity
I watched and answer your note and WS, why be at the Beta version of TE?
I saw your WS perfectly well, thanks

This is one big golden shell. how did it get to Venice? Love the clarity in this shot, I was even more impressed with how sharp and clear the landscape in the background is. Really wonderful quality shot. My complements.

An unusual statue, Chris, brass shining on fine daylight and show its unique pattern.
Venezia typical view of the bay as background, beautifully mingle well in the scene.
A fine shot, goood clarity collected.

Now this is something I haven't seen in Venice before. How exquisite. Your photo, with its POV including the shell and the tower in the BG is just stunning. I love the rich blue and gold tones, which always go so well together, especially as here, in the sunshine. Top shot.
Have a lovely day

I've been looking forward to this photo. It is every bit as attractive in full size as in the thumbnail. You are right, the brass color and the deep blue sky go very well together.
PS. It must be Kurban Bayramı over there. How's the weather holding on?

I love the patterns, textures and colour of this sculpture, you've presented and exalted all of them very aptly. I like very much how you used perspective, depth and illumination to make the impact of this original artwork so strong. You almost filled the frame with it but when we manage to take our eyes off of it, we discover a lovely view of Venice in the distance. The whole scenery has taken a graphical aspect, the brilliant light has accentuated the contrasts and rendered all the colours so delicious. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,
