Good Morning Everyone,
This shot was a promise to willperrett, in response to his fine bicycle shot here . However, his bike was in a more 'useful' state!
I took this shot in the town of Lucca, where parking in the narrow streets was a great problem. This person had tried to make life easier by using his bicycle rather than a car!!! I'm afraid there wasn't even enough room to park bicycles!
On a lighter note, the bicycle did look to be taking a bow to the audience that had gathered to inspect the damage. Although we waited a few minutes, we didn't see the owners response!
Have a lovely day, Bev :-)

smile of the day, but not for the owner! No need of a lock, the bike won't be robbed!

Was this Salvador Dali's bike?
Well composed and cropped the linear lines of the wall contrast well with the curved lines of the cobbles and the bike... now what shape could I call that? Ha ha!
Have a nice day

An interesting story to accompany this funny picture, nicely illustrates one of the perils of modern living in an old town with narrow streets! Not very funny for the owner of course, but well captured by you.

Je pense que cette bicyclette ne roulera plus jamais.Les rues très étroites de Lucca sont un danger pour tous. Une belle photo de reportage.

a familiar site all too often when I visit Brighton. It is a sorry site and makes a great photographic subject. Like the way you describe it as "taking a bow". Not sure I would be amused returning to find my bike doing this though!
Have a great weekend - Brian.

Hello Bev - This is not just any old bike, look, its a ladies bike. A basket to carry the shopping and a chain and wheel guard to stop the owner's skirt from getting tangled up in the moving parts. The poor woman will be totally disconcerted when she sees this! A great shot. Warm regards rosemary

when you own a bike, and the pedal is able to touch the ground - you know you have a problem! lol
What i love about TE so much is how we can be friends with people all over the globe, and we post photo's for eachother - like what you did here for Will.
It just makes the photo that much more special and meaningful.
excellent subject here, i've enjoyed it.

I love your title and this image made me smile- poor bike looks to be almost melting into the roadway.I must agree with Craig's comments regarding the TE interaction...thanks for adding with your off-beat "travel portrait" :)

Oops, and Ouch too! The owner was trying to be green, and look at the response! Sadly I saw plenty of similar "victims" in Florence, and always felt obscurely sad. Especially as they tend afterwards to be abandoned. I seem to remember Claude (Clodo) posting something similar from France a few months ago... here

Hi dear Bev
hehehe a nice response to Will's photo and yes, the first thing I said to myself upon seeing your photo was indeed "oops!". So an excellent title, totally in keeping with the narrative of the photo Hmmm, and they call the Neapolitan drivers crazy! It's good to see the Northerners are just as bad ;)
Thanks for sharing

I don't want to be an owner of this bike. Sad story, I have seen similar scenes in Graz, Bergamo. Fine report, perfect sharpness. TFS!

while it looks quite simple, gives a high impression on carrying artistic elements inside. nice shot.
