Agrigento dalla Valle dei Templi, a photo from Agrigento, Sicily

Photographer's Note

La Valle dei Templi di Agrigento è uno dei tesori dell'archeologia greca in Italia.
Nel bellissimo paesaggio montuoso che delimita l'altipiano, una spettacolare serie di templi dedicati alle maggiori divinità greche si ergeva maestosa: l'edificio dedicato a Hera Lacinia, a Concordia, a Eracle, a Zeus Olimpico, a Castore e Polluce, a Vulcano.
Essi risalgono al V secolo a.C. e testimoniano il livello di prosperità raggiunto dagli insediamenti greci in loco.
I templi furono incendiati nel 406 a.c. dai Cartaginesi e restaurati a cura dei Romani nel I secolo a.C., ritornando al loro originale aspetto dorico.
Il danno maggiore venne arrecato loro dai sismi e dall'opera distruttiva voluta dall'Imperatore cristiano Teodosio (IV secolo).
A tutt'oggi ne rimane solo uno intatto, ironicamente il Tempio della Concordia, che appunto nel VI secolo venne mutato in chiesa.

Superb composition with a nice contrast between the rocks and part of the capital in the foreground, with the magnificent view of the city stepped into the hillside, giving great depth to the image.
Very nice as these rich colors with good light.

the foreground detail of the old stone ruins contrasts superbly with the more modern buildings in the foreground. wonderful colours and depth of field. the blue sky is excellent.

Good combination of ancient and modern elements in this beautiful shot, both shares equal importance in the well framed image. The fg ruin of the upturned column from Roman times contrasts superbly against the modern bg cityscape. Good sharpness & superb warm cold color contrasts between the blue sky & reddish yellow rock in the fg. Tfs!

Ciao Maurizio,
un POV ben scelto che non si limita a mostrare Agrigento che da qui si presenta come una città moderna e anonima.
L'inserimento dei resti archeologici, infatti ne fanno uno scatto interessante.
Non sono sicuro, perchè guardo la foto dal portatile, ma credo che lo sharp è un pò troppo spinto.

Interessante la nota. Anche se sono l'Assessore di TE, confesso che non ero al corrente del fatto che nel VI secolo il Tempio della Concordia venne mutato in chiesa.

de très jolies couleurs, fortes, un avant plan qui aide à la construction de l'efet de profondeur. Peu d'espace pour le ciel, qui laisse pourtant apparaitre un magnifique cumulus.

the intense daylight enhanced the colors on the town, viewed from the ancient ruins area over the a hill.
maybe I'd step backwards a bit to allow a wider scope, but the result is yet wonderful.

questa foto mi era sfuggita, sono stato un pò preso negli ultimi giorni.
Veramente interessante, la composizione è ben studiata, foto divisa in diagonale e ben suddivisa tra antico e moderno, POV molto originale.
