Good Morning Everyone,
I'm sure you will know that this is the unmistakable dome of the Duomo, Florence.
I had seen its upward-view appearance many times, in travel books, but was determined to see it eye-to-eye. I climbed the many, many, many steps, in the adjaceant bell tower to achieve this view.
I was not disappointed.
I can honestly say, that as I gazed out on this magnificent building, I got a lump in my throat.
There were many people trying to take photographs but with a little patience, we were all satisfied.
Thank you for your interest, Bev :-)

Good sharpness & a wonderful warm vs cold color contrast between the red domed church & the blue sky. Nice symmetry between the 2 sets of circles which do resemble eyes with a bit of imagination. Tfs!

It was certainly worth the effort to capture this magnificent perspective. The shot is very well composed using the roof line coming in from the left to direct the viewer toward the magnificent dome. I like also the counterbalancing green dome to be seen in the far distance. Excellent technical presentation. Well done!

Un bon cliché de cette superbe architecture mise en valeur avec un bonne luminosité. Tes efforts physiques ont été récompensés et c'est une bonne idée de nous en faire profiter.
Je te souhaite une bonne journée.

Apperently we were in the same place one day after you been there, Take a look...!!
Yet, I see you climb up the campanile, I did not, and saw the most impressive Dome from it's higher level.
Magnificent POV, worth the climb.

Un bon cadrage de ce dôme en vertical avec ici un bel accord en douceur entre le ciel et les teintes briques sur l'architecture.

iconic shot of this real beauty. Love the POV and the shadow which gives depth and texture to the ornate architecture. Beautifully sharp and detailed. A captivating presentation.

I love this shot, of the dome of the Duomo from Giotto's Tower. I feel the vicarious pleasure of seeing this view through your lens.
After a scare in climbing to shoot The View from the Top at Saint Peter's in Rome a few years ago, I decided to forego the ascent of both Brunelleschi's magical dome (topped by Leonardo's 2 m diameter gilded ball) and Giotto's Tower (your shot). I did, however, get to the Piazzale Michelangelo across the Arno to take a stitched panorama of this breath taking city, From Ponte Vecchio to Santa Croce. You can also see it in the THE LARGE VERSION.
This beauty belongs in the group theme Domes, Spires and Minarets.
Incidentally, with the last photo of mine that your critiqued, I went back and did a ws, integrating my companions at Central Park South.

Hello Beverley ,
This is a splendid presentation of the famous dome . The POV is excellent and the framing is perfect . The shade in the bottom is a little bonus .

This is a beautiful photograph of a truly iconic building. You clearly planned, on visiting Florence, to capture for yourself a picture of this and you have succeeded admirably! And, what is more, it has been worth all the toil and effort of climbing the belltower in order to achieve it.
Many might think that the colours are a little under-saturated but to me they are believable and, I am sure, are what you saw when you took this picture. Your use of a polarising filter has nicely darkened and saturated the sky to make it interesting. The composition is excellent, the roof line appearing from the bottom left corner, and the lighting is superb, even down to the shadow of what I presume is the belltower.

I admire this very good POV! I have enjoyed this famous building several times but only from street level, the queues were alwas too long... It is a different picture when getting so close as you have done here. This is indeed a remarkable architecture and also a very fine picture!

Verticla framing well selcetd and very efficience for the presentation of this beautiful and famous architectur. The details are well collected. The propsect open to the landscape in the BG give a great depht to the composition.

This is a magnificent POV of this equally magnificent church. The colours are spectacular, I often think that the architects and builders must have envisioned how beautifully such colours and textures would interract with the blue sky. Excellent textures and vertical frame too.
Have a lovely weekend

Superb image of the great dome of the Duomo, as you have captured this magnificent shot from a similar height, so we see even more great, a pleasure the good sharpness and great lighting that allow us to admire this geometrical arrangement in marble.
A wonderful work, I really like.
I wish you a good start to the week.

Ciao dear Bev,
beautiful image of the Duomo in Florence, you chose a good POV, with the lines of the church that converge toward the dome to emphasize its precious architecture. The photo quality is excellent, especially the sharpness, that allows us to appreciate the details and the beautiful view behind the Basilica. A photo very well composed, congratulations!
Ciao, have a nice Friday and Merry Christmas to you and your family!
