Photographer's Note
Last month we were fortunate enough to be guests at a family wedding held at Borgo di Tragliata, about 40Km northwest of Rome and stayed there for four nights. And a beautiful place it was, ancient farm buildings set in the Lazio countryside. From our apartment, we walked down these rugged old steps this particular evening to sit and have a glass of wine together in the setting sun. Wonderful!
Taken about 8 p.m. with the warm sun streaming through the gardens. Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE9.

Hi John,
The evenings in Italy are fantastic (as well as mornings and days). It must be joy to sit there, and have something together. Well, for me no wine, only tap water, as you know :). lovely place, charming light.
Warm regards from sunny Warsaw

Hi John,
This is an excellent capture of the low light that creates beautiful shadows along the stones on the ground. Your elevated position and the randomly placed chairs, make we think this is a stage, just before the actors enter. May a relation drama with people placed far apart, not really talking to each other...
This is a fine picture that really stimulates my fantasy!
Kind regards
Gunnar

Hi John
Ahh such magical light, an unforgettable afternoon in Italy. I'm so glad you captured it - and captured it so well - as it makes the memory timeless. You did really well with the uneven light here, it's abslutely ethereal. Thanks for sharing this wonderful moment with us.
Best regards
Lisa

A table waits for two! How lovely John and what a wonderful setting for a glass of wine, simple and rustic. Very well managed light, I love the way it is highlighting the table and chairs inviting someone to sit and enjoy it's dying rays. Lovely romantic shot. best regards Rosemary

Hi John
What a lovely evening light. An unuusual P.O.V, but well captured. The empty chairs are just asking to be sat on and I would be happy to be served with a meal and a bottle of wine there.
Best Wishes Gladys
P.S. I am a very keen gardener ,but after fracturing my pelvis I am unable to bend down much,so my poor husband does most of the hard work for me and I get the credit! Life`s tough.

John
This is wonderful !
Really mixed lighting, you have found just the right blend of light and dark.
And so well seen; the table is beautifully positioned, did you find it so, or was it helped by a canny Scotsman ?
Whichever, a very pleasing result..
kind regards
Martin

Hello John,
I seemed to have missed a few of your images lately and this one has really caught my attention now. The warm light on the pot plants and the two chairs is so inviting. Lovely detail captured throughout. How lucky you were to be there.
Best wishes, Ann
