Photographer's Note

Only one small part in the fabulous mosaic in the Villa Romana del-Casale, just near the town of Piazza Armerina, in Sicilia.
There was a large latifundium, built and known till the 4th century, covered all floors with a mosaic artwork, mostly describing the daily life than.
But, a large landslide covered the entire "palatin" in the 12th century, and it was forgotten until discovered and excavated in late 19th century, and early 20th century.
This is a scanned print from a trip to Sicilia in 9/2003.
Unfortunately, many of the corners in this sight are difficult for photography as they are covered with glass windows to protect the valuable mosaic, or remain in shaded area.
