Theme: (Trip) Charms of Europe (VIII) - Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a covered double arcade formed of two glass-vaulted arcades at right angles intersecting in an octagon; it is prominently sited on the northern side of the Piazza del Duomo in Milan, and connects to the Piazza del Scala (the Teatro Scala).

The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (seen from the Piazza del Duomo) is quite possibly the most beautiful shopping mall/center around.The grand scale and detail of this beautiful building is impressive! The decorative details inside are equally impressive--look down at the beautiful marble and mosaic floors or up to the stained-glass dome. Here you will also find upscale bistro restaurants and shops such as Prada and Bernasconi....what more could you want.

Just outside you will find a sidewalk cafe where you may sample a few Italian dishes and gaze to your heart's content at the beauty which surrounds you.

What a good shot,going to the end of the Galleries and out, when I was there I went to a shopping next to the Galleries to take photos from above, you stay and captured a perfect symmetrical image plenty of colors

A very nice shot indeed of Piazza del Duomo. I love your inclusion of people especially the lady in red in the foreground is great. Personally I would perhaps have try include a little more of the sky, but I guess that this is very much a matter of taste. TFS and have a nice evening!

Ola dear Filipe

This photo raises my curiosity even further to see Milan. I have been to Italy so many times (mostly to visit my family) but have never seen Milan and its glorious cathedral and Gallery Victor Emanuele. Did you know there is a smaller version of the Gallery in Naples? Superb warm colours and golden lights here and the perspective created is wonderful. The people add such dynamism and trluy show that this city is the largest and most populous in Italy.

Olá Filipe,
buen encuadre con simetría de la magnífica arquitectura de esta plaza, y gran dinamismo creado por la gente que llena el lugar, en una composición atractiva. La perspectiva de la galería es muy profunda.
La saturación de los colores da mucha fuerza a la imagen, aunque el azul del cielo parece poco natural, y la gestión de la luz es muy buena.

A very luminous Milan!
The composition exploits well the sense of depth created by the lines in the pavement and the light is what makes everything so bright and the colours so vivid. The excellent sharpness makes one appreciate the many interesting details.

as i'm looking at this, there are so many compositions available. love the middle area with that depth and the curved cieling.
my favorite part though, are all the people scattered about the ground.

Hi Filipe,

This certainly looks like a very attractive place with the stunning architecture and the receding mall. It is all so nicely accentuated with the low sun, creating a warm glow to the stonework and interesting, long shadows on the pavement.
I like the busy effect, created by the numerous figures. The lady in red is strongly positioned. (I have visions of all us photographers patiently waiting until someone clothed in red appears on the scene!)
You have good sharpness and a fine sensde of depth.

It's a great view of a fabulous building to be sure, and the viewpoint of the commanding building is absolutely fine as primary focal point. The presence of human element is equally attractive and speck of reds works well for good scale reference that add life to this image. A picture with great perspective and the light quality and soft shadows further enhance the depth greatly. Excellent vibrant colors dan saturation with good contrast. Superb sharpness and fine textures. Great capture, Congrats.

I intended to buy a Rolex for me and a Cartier for my wife!So I think this large shopping center could be quite suitable for our needs. We now jump in our private jet to reach Milano!
Grandiose architecture depicted with beautiful contrasts by low side light.
Much depth given by view of "rich pedestrians".

Hi Filipe,
beautiful presentation of this famous passage. I have been there few times yet without a camera.
I like very much the central symmetry. The best aspect here is surely the original light. The sunn seems to be so low already, the shades are incredibly long which is well visible looking at the shade of the woman in the FG. The last rays of the sun subtly touch the surface of the architecture giving it an unusual almost 3D effect. People are nicely dispersed throughout the square providing the sense of the scale. I like it very much.
