Photographer’s Note
On the middle south coast of Sicily is located the town of Agrigento. There is found the “Valley of the Temples”, an impressive archaeological world heritage.
Some of the most important temples you can find there, are:
- The Hercules Temple (6th century BC). Only eight columns still remains upright, from forty four.
- The Concordia Temple (See it on the photo).
- The Giunone Temple (5th century BC). Only remains 25 columns.
- The Jupter Temple (5th century BC).
- The Castore and Polluce Temple (Only a corner of 4 repaired columns remains upright, but them have been turned into the symbol of the town).
The Concordia Temple was erected in the 5th century BC, and it’s the most well preserved of all the Sicilian temples.
It is from doric style, and it has some structural analogyes with the Teseo Temple in Athens.
It has six columns in the front, and a total of 34 columns in all its perimeter, and it is located on a base of four steps.
As you can see, “Il Tempio della Concordia” impress a lot when you see it.
To go for a walk beside all them, it’s an unusual pleasure that you have to experiment if you go to the Valley of the Temples in Sicily island.

Hi Jaume, lovely photo, I have a weekness for this kind of historical settings. The perspective and composition are great allowing to see both the front and the side of the temple. The colours are beautiful, the combination of earthy yellow-brown and the blue sky works very well. Well done!

Bonjour Jaume.

How did you manage this without people around. This is poster quality. A beautiful warm capture. Well done.
